It’s never too late for purple lipstick
I don’t really do music. Over the years I have tried to listen to music at times, but I don’t really get it. I have this feeling that I am missing out on something that means a lot to many people, but somehow it doesn’t seem to work for me.
I have a friend who is also disinterested in music, but is a voracious reader and writer. Whatever floats your boat!
What floats yours?
Admission: I’ve never capsized a boat!
Water?
Seriously: model trains, progressive & electronic music (other kinds too), computer graphics, humor.
Perhaps we should have a “This is what I’m interested in” thread (unless there is one already). There’s a creatives one, but there’s always a lot of “armchair modelers” (as the model train people call it) out there.
You?
It’s never too late to become a child of the night!
same here. i would’ve made a great goth in high school, if i had known what they were at the time. they were way too new back then. i guess i was gothy in my own way, but i certainly wasn’t the way we think of goths now.
This probably points to a failure to assimilate in a land of Gahd, guhns and gummint, but I haven’t committed a mass shooting.
Back in the day we weren’t goths tho, we were just freaks.
Also rule # of being goth is denying being goth.
so, tah dah! You’re goth!
Same. I was just some mopey kid who dressed in black, didn’t play sports, LARPed, and could stand to gain a few pounds. I wasn’t trying to cultivate an image, like some of the hardcore goths back then, but I fit in better with them than with the people who weren’t goth.
yep. i also read anything dark and sinister. anton lavey’s “satanic bible”? sure. dante’s “infero”? yep. nosferatu? of course. tarot cards? got 'em. on and on and on.
Ayn Rand? Yep.
truth be told? yep. but i liked it the first time i read it because it read to me about (as an artist) sticking to your vision no matter what people do to try and distract you or stop you. all the rest i didn’t clue in on until later.
That is a good question. My work is rewarding - might join that thread before long. I solve problems before they hurt people, and that suits me remarkably well.
I love playing cooperative games with my friends. I really enjoy Arkham Horror and other massively overcomplicated games, but really, games with cooperative elements are the best.
What I don’t like is contests where domination and submission are the order of the day. That’s my omission admission.
Right?!? Who knew that when you’re young and dumb you identify with people who tell you it’s okay to take from people… because you’re exceptional.
Then I learned what projection was.
And somewhere in there, ideally, we figure out we’re all redshirts. Redshirts are awesome, by the way.
Similar to Rand… I made it through 6-7 books of that LRon Hubbard monstrosity before I started realizing what a crazy asshole he was. And for that I was still 16.
Snickering quietly over here.
Morrissey declined comment, instead leading a protest against Venus flytrap plants for eating animal flesh.
I still stand by my assertion that this “Morrissey” is naught but a poor Smith’s cover band.
(Says the guy with at least two Morrissey CDs)
