Gotta say, that’s exactly like most podcasts with men and women that I’ve heard – the latter mostly serve as appreciative soundboards for the former.

I’ll be the first to recognize that Mulligan is somewhat of a big ham with all the scene-chewing that implies, but I feel they took turns being the “appreciative soundboard” as this was mostly an “interview structured” conversation between friends.

It’s good to hear that their podcast is more balanced in those terms. I do get annoyed at how often podcasts are not. I think it was Chapo Traphouse especially, where the nattering dudebros did include a woman, but then seemed to confine her to laughing appreciatively, when she wasn’t being manterrupted.

Yeah, I’m painfully aware of the concept of manterruption since a female friend of mine told me her husband and me, when too excited, tend to capitalize the conversation, leaving little room for her to talk. Her gentle rebuke was more painful to hear than many reproaches in the past. I’ve tried to create more silences and be more patient since then.
(yeah, I know I’m not one of those podcasters, but still, male privilege is male privilege. We are encouraged to be loud and outspoken, in detriment of our female peers)

I haven’t had someone point out to me that I will capitalize a conversation when excited, I came to that realization on my own and it was still painful because people likely thought it but kept it to themselves to be polite.
This is still something I struggle with but I do try to be more self aware and mindful

I think i did not noticed myself because usually when I meet with my female friends, I tend to be more on the listening side (though if I get started on something expect a tall tale 
). But this friend and I are a bad combination, both very excitable and prone to long dissertions. I’m glad her wife is smart and is not afraid of calling us on our behaviour 
Made me think if there were times I should have been silent instead of talkative.

Just a quick message to say that massive power outage in Spain. I still have no power past midnight, mobile internet seems to have mostly recovered (albeit very unstable). Alive and well.
