For myself… I find myself wavering between the hope that these guys are still ignorant and incompetent dipshits who might not be able to do all things that they envision, and the fear that their ignorance and incompetence will make them even more dangerous…
Well, since the fear it expresses is valid, I don’t think the image is unhinged. I especially like the people who seem to be fleeing down the steps in fear. I wish more news orgs would call out Tromp for the threat that he is.
My hope is that we still have enough institutional fortitude and resilience left to stop the incoming fascist onslaught. And more vaguely, that USians somehow just won’t stand for that shit, like, we take pride in claiming that we’re the ones who defeated the real Nazis for craps sake!! But then I remember that Tromp’s followers will believe that the left is full of the “real” commies, cheaters, fascists, etc.

I wish they’d done that much sooner… It’s nice that they’re publishing stuff like this now, and I don’t think that the Guardian was the worst in that regard (as they did have voices warning us about Trump in their pages), but much like the GOP senators clutching their pearls over Matt Gaetz, I’m not sure why they did not listen and report on it more prior to the election… So much of the large outlets and networks sanewashed and normalized what he was doing… now that they’re likely being directly targeted, they seem to finally care… It’s frustrating, I gotta say. But it’s so heard to get the media to break out of the spectacle to get at the truth these days.

Earlier today, I listened to an interview with Andy Kim, and they talked about his “clean up” of the aftermath of January 6. I remembered this image, and I’m still crying. Seriously, WTF, America?
Andy is positive and willing to work across the aisle. I really admire folks who can keep a positive attitude - especially after, literally, picking up shit from the rotunda of the US Capitol! More like Senator-elect Kim, please.
