Well who could have foreseen that?!?!
Of the “didn’t think the leopard would eat my face” notions, the easiest one for me to express to the @#$! trump voter is: eggs. They voted for trump because “things like eggs were sooo expensive”, (which they somehow attribute to anything Democratic party). Well, just deport all the undocumented poultry workers and then watch them egg prices soar.
well, to make a fascist authoritarian dictatorship omelet, ya gotta break some eggs, yeah?

Note to Markwayne Mullin: When you kiss the ass, the ass also kisses you.
And how many people who OWN construction companies in texas voted for him for the tax cuts?
Only everyone who actual heard the words coming out of is mouth is who!
Admittedly, those shlubs almost always support stronger anti-immigrant laws: it gives them a very effective tool for power over those undocumented workers they’re already paying well below minimum wage. For the owners, it’s like having slavery without the inconvenience of having to house or feed them.
How long before we see “company sponsored work programs” wherein companies can “hire” undocumented workers and effectively own them outright?
Yep, exactly that… and if those workers get rounded up and sent out of the country, they’re gonna be fucked. Which… good. But this is gonna crash the economy.
They’re gonna fill in those gaps with prison labor, because we can enslave those people…
and with more and more criminalization of being unhoused, prisons get fuller and the slave labor pool grows…
profit?
everything sucks.
Maybe read HCR’s letter from last night. Power is apparently sloshing around a lot in DC right now. Tromp doesn’t have it all! (Yet? )
Can pols be drowned in it? Asking for a friend…
and i thought there was general disappointment with the (2019) Muller report -sigh-
(“you fool! that’s comparing apples and oranges!” yeah… well they’re both gone to rot)
The Proposed Action
I am but one person and cannot speak for our entire community. But here’s what I propose in the spirit of Queer Nation, who in the 1990s carried out myriad protests under the same banner but with no singular leader or directive.
I propose that on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024 (the first day that both the House and Senate are back in session), all of us who are invested in this issue and have a platform (whether it be a blog, newsletter, column, podcast, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, etc.) publish a piece with the shared title: “LGBTQ+ People Are Not Going Back.” Yes, I know, it’s a cheesy title, but it holds Democrats accountable to their own talking points and makes it clear that backsliding on LGBTQ+ rights is nonnegotiable for us.
What you write or say or express in your op-ed or article or video or podcast etcetera is up to you. I encourage you to make it personal and feel free to tailor it to your audience. My only request (other than all of us using the same title) is that you implore people to contact their Congressperson and Senators (and perhaps even local politicians) and tell them that 1) you will not tolerate any backpedaling on LGBTQ+ rights whatsoever, and 2) if they fail to strongly stand up against these attacks on LGBTQ+ rights, then you will take your vote elsewhere next election.
Yeah, I read it. As always, it’s good to see someone willing to use their platform to seek out something approaching the truth on what’s just happened… Her (and Timothy Snyder’s) insistence on grounding their analysis in historical processes rather than ideology is enormously helpful in seeing where we might still have a path out of this mess, even if that path is difficult and hard…
But as we’ve seen, that doesn’t mean he can’t get that power to himself. It seems like there are people rushing to comply before he’s even in office, and that’s where the real trouble comes in. Too many news outlets are just accepting the narrative handed to them by Trump and his people - Harris lost because she was too woke, Trump’s cabinet is ideologically diverse actually, the Senate under republican control will have a spine and stand up to his worst picks, it’s a MANDATE (and not the fun kind), etc, etc… None of the major outlets (and some of the ones a bit more off the beaten path) seem perfectly willing to just hoover these talking points down and spit them back out at us at a rapid fire. We’re still not lost, but we’re getting closer and closer to the worst case scenario… All I can think about since the election is Yugoslavia and just how quickly that situation devolved - from Milosevic (and others) grandstanding on Serbian (and other) nationalism and Greater Serbia language to acts of genocide in a few short years. The collapse of Yugoslavia showed pretty conclusively that history had not ended (FRANCIS), but marched ever forward, if in a new iteration of conflict…
But it doesn’t HAVE to be this way, but for some, it’s the ONLY way, because history to them history is not a chronicle of what happened, with historians amicably debating the why: rather it’s a heroic destiny that must be established in the most bloody of ways, to really ensure that the path is ordained by god (because to them, god loves the bloody stuff). Ultimately, that’s the heart of their worldview and Trump is leading that charge with his movement (along with other authoritarians around the world).
And this is why we need better humanities education, because when people have a firm grounding in the breadth and depth of how we humans organize ourselves, it’s easier to see that the only ones who set our destiny is ourselves and we have so many choices in how we do that.
Anywayz…
“using the military to ethnically cleanse our country is WRONG, we should use cops instead…”
Paul criticized plans to use the military for deportation as “illegal”, adding: “If they send the army into New York and you have 10,000 troops marching carrying semi-automatic weapons, I think it’s a terrible image, and I will oppose that.”
What a piece of shit. IT DOESN’T MATTER WHO IS ROUNDING PEOPLE UP, YOU DIPSHIT IT’S STILL ETHNICALLY CLEANSING THE COUNTRY YOU MASSIVE TURD.
The nypd has 40,000? officers. You need to send more troops Randy.
I object to this headline.
White supremacists have not been part of Democrats base since approximately 1948.
