Here’s one other gobsmacking, wholly unprecedented DOJ scenario to look out for: In addition to Bondi, Trump has appointed three more of his personal lawyers to some of the most senior positions at DOJ. These are attorneys who defended him in both his criminal and civil cases. Incredibly, this means that the same attorneys who represented Trump in the classified documents case will soon be in positions to decide how — or even if — the U.S. government contests Trump’s insane $100 million lawsuit over the FBI’s search of Mar-a-Lago for the classified documents he took and refused to return.
Plus, the oligarchy has grown beyond the nation state. The US turns into a dystopia of their own making? The tech bros will just retreat to their NZ bunkers, or maybe a gulf state that offers nice tax breaks and that has the dystopian aspects under control through decades of optimisation.
Be more like Obama.
“seeming” is doing a lot of heavy lifting there.
So when all the votes are counted and a democrat wins it’s chesting, if a republican wins it’s because, well who knows why.
I wish a reporter would ask these people if the democrats are so good at cheating why don’t they currently control at least one of the branches of government.
Marge is upset because a democrat won after counting all the votes.
Congressman John Duarte was winning but after 22 days of counting ballots he is now losing by 105 votes.
Democrats are stealing another House seat!
Elections nationwide should be one day, paper ballots, and require proof of citizenship with ID!!
I wonder what the CIA and the NSA think of all this, and what their plans are during this administration.
Afterthoughts:
Given the cautiously prudent precedent set by the previous Trump administration’s White House staff, the CIA and NSA might choose to follow the same plan and withhold sensitive information from Trump and his Cabinet now that Putin has openly reminded Trump of his obligations. I wouldn’t be surprised if the CIA and NSA were already engaged in such practices during the first administration.
Additionally, I recently read a report indicating that some of our allies are now seriously considering withholding information in a similar manner. If their mistrust is strong enough to extend to the CIA and NSA, it could have detrimental effects on our security. In their position, I might do the same to protect my own operations and security.
The changing news environment means Americans are receiving information differently and this directly affects their positions on the issues.
For Democrats, this means a need to focus on how to continue getting our messaging across to voters so that we have a chance at winning in 2028.
With a dearth of information at their fingertips, Democrats will struggle to find reliable, trustworthy, and honest news sources that they can count on.
If Conservatives get their way and they eradicate much of the legacy media, millions of Americans will be left behind, desperate for dependable news.
Now is the time for networks such as NBC, ABC, and CNN, to collaborate and perhaps create a unified and strong news network that will fairly report the news and deliver insightful analyses that all Americans can depend on.
If they don’t band together, they might all disappear from existence. If that happens, America will be left with a one-sided media infrastructure parroting the White House, creating a dystopian reality for all Americans.
I suspect that would be determined by how much ad revenue they bring in, that is, one or more may think mostly of the bottom line. Revenue sources know their customers both in demographics and numbers of; on that I’ve decided to stay optimistic in light of how many advertisers fled Xitter.
They always come around eventually, don’t they?
The only possible good that can come of this is another image of a former critic, eating crow and whatever food 45 is making his sycophants eat that day.
And that schadenfreude is absolutely not worth the cost we’ll all pay.
Ro Khanna, who is in the mix as a possible contender for the White House in 2028 and hails from the progressive wing of the party, was comfortably reelected to the House of Representatives earlier this month. He insists liberals around the world like himself should not abandon Musk’s X for other social media platforms.
The two have known each other for many years and are in regular contact, including this week on X, where they found common ground on shrinking what they regard as a bloated U.S. defense budget.
“I think that everything he has said publicly is he believes in free and open speech, and we need to have more platforms. Now, I don’t think X should be the only platform,” Khanna told Anne McElvoy for POLITICO’s Power Play podcast. “Not only do I stay, I use it all the time … I don’t think that the answer for progressives is to disengage.”
“Now we have the distortion of the public sphere with moneyed interests and with digital spaces that aren’t equal for everyone to participate. And what we ought to be focused on is how do we create more town hall-like places for conversation online.”
Idiot. Fund Musk instead of other platforms. Maybe he’ll control the dialogue less and put less money into autocratic candidates if you stay!!!
Yeah - I won’t be voting for thinking like that.
Seems like this would have been a more relevant (but still wrong) opinion to express two years ago, when there still were progressives there.
We’re all completely fucked if this is the type of “opposition” dems are going to offer.
But but, he hails from the progressive wing of the party!
The asshole likes Elon and recently did an event with Nancy mace, I’m going to just assume he’s a transphobe.
All the genuflecting and ass ring kissing is making me ill.
Manila envelopes are probably a good investment.
