Lots trans folks will point out that Dems are willing to throw potential allies under the bus. So the Dems do have some experience with this.
Oh, politely stepping aside to let people get run over by steamrollers while congratulating themselves on being accommodating they do all the time, but they’d never actually hurt anyone themselves by doing something. There’s a very complex moral code. “Someone should look into this runaway trolley, it seems like it would be a better outcome if some qualified operator were to switch its tracks.”
Dem leadership literally decided to ignore the erasure of the trans community to score political points.
Yeah, following up on that. Just as chaotic and useless as you’d expect.

I’ve never heard of Penzy’s before.
It’s a bit nicer than I would be, but it’s a small business taking a stand, and I hope they continue to do so.
It may give them a lot of unearned praise, but it’s still a pretty impressive statement for a business to be making. Imagine if businesses all over had been making statements like these years ago, persistently telling alt-right loons that while they’re not banned from shopping there, they’re skating on thin ice and their bullshit will not be encouraged or normalized. I think it would have done a lot to fight the arrogance that emboldened fascists and led to this point where they’ve lost all sense of shame or fear.
Penzey’s is the real deal.
They’re the same family as The Spice House, but they broke away because of political/human rights differences.
This is not the first time they have made a public statement rather than keep their mouths shut.
Yes! It’s basically baked into their brand by this point (as I’m sure you know).
It’s also why Kamala visited one of their stores.
The DNC elected new leadership yesterday. I don’t know much about the new chair, but Pelosi, Jeffries, Schumer, and the rest of the old guard supported someone else, so I’m cautiously optimistic. Also, it wasn’t mentioned in this article, but David Hogg won one of the Vice Chair seats.
I’ve been wondering about Hungary, since I often hear it’s autocracy is adored by Tromp and Co.
How bad are things there? Anyone know of a good overview of that, written, video, podcast or something?
I don’t know of any specific written material on the matter but one of my employees is Hungarian. He defected to the US in the late 50s. He tells me Hungary is a happy disaster. The populace is largely behind their dictator and are thrilled at what Donny is doing here in the US. He indicated that 45’s first term had many Hungarians celebrating and others terrified of what that meant. He still owns a business in Hungary after he repatriated for dual citizenship in the 80s and he returns there twice a year even though he finds the place reminiscent of the times it was under soviet control. It’s all anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim, Hungary first type nationalism and it breaks his heart. Obviously just one man’s impression but I trust his judgment.
Malcolm Kenyatta is black, progressive, gay, and a state rep from Philadelphia. He’s charismatic and is seen as having great potential for higher office.
Bear in mind that their dictator is an ally of Putin and has done everything he can to block EU aid to Ukraine.
