Who?
Trump is secretly stanning Defuckhead, like all the other right-wing money.
This is about the implications of recent Taiwan elections. Why it isn’t previewing, I don’t know.
Well at least he won’t be president.
The entire cognitive support system of the GOP seems to be breaking down. Love to see it.
Let’s just hope it results in the implosion of the GOP…
Is anybody following the California Senate race? I just saw Schiff is in the lead, followed by Steve Garvey (really?..does he have any qualifications other than being an old jock who played first base for the Dodgers?), Barbara Lee, and Katie Porter. I like Lee…but she’s 77 years old. Considering this is the race to replace Diane Feinstein…why is the only black woman who’s running the same age as Trump and Biden? Did anyone think this through? Garvey is 75, by the way, Schiff is 63, and Porter is 50. I don’t know why the Democratic Party didn’t just throw their full support behind Porter. She could hold that seat productively for 4 terms. Again, I like Barbara Lee, but she would be 84 years old after just one term. Unless the Democrats want a repeat of what happened with Feinstein, Lee is a one term Senator. It just doesn’t make a lot of sense. Of course, if Feinstein had retired 12 years ago like she should have, Lee could have taken that seat then, when she was about Schiff’s age. Anyway, right now it’s looking like Schiff and Garvey making it to the general election, and I really hate that.
I have not been, so thanks for this update…
I’m thinking that it’s probably seen as a seniority thing rather than who would be able to serve longest thing? Both Lee and Schiff have been around longer than Porter (I don’t know about Garvey?), and this would be kind of a move to the more senior legislative body… Porter has only been around in the house for a little while, so probably leadership sees her as in need of more legislative experience.
Steve Garvey is a 75 year old former All-Star first baseman for the Dodgers and Padres. Since he retired, he started a production company that makes informercials. Other than that, he’s most known for having a disaster of a personal life through most of the 70s, 80s, and 90s, although he seems to have chilled out. Anywho, he’s running as a Republican, so that’s all I need to know. And he has zero public service experience. I’m pretty sure the GOP knows they can’t win that seat, so rather than throw out a serious candidate, they decided to just throw in a once popular athlete and see what happens. Thankfully, California has non-partisan Senate elections, so there’s a good chance the general election will be between Schiff and either Lee or Porter. Especially if one of them drops out, because I suspect there’s a lot of overlap between their supporters.
That seems like a major theme of the GOP these days… they go for high profile name recognition or someone who is a MAGA loyalist, rather than anyone with any kind of legal or legislative or political experience. You really saw that back in 2022 here in GA when they ran Walker against the good rev. senator Warnock. They really believed that Walker being Black and a football player was enough for him to be a senator and to get people to vote for him. And sadly, some DID vote for him…
I was kinda hoping Walker was in the running when I read this…
It’s more likely he’s thinking about Tim Scott or Elise Stefanik, though.
I can’t imagine that Walker would have any interest in getting involved in politics again…
Is it bad that my immediate thought was that he was considering Herman Cain? Also, the false dichotomy…
If only Trump were as alive as Herman.
