Hopefully, this video from The Daily Show will go viral and the idea of Stephen A. Smith running will die in a fire:
I hope he wins.
Huh. Is this to encourage folks to rank them 1-2, in whatever order? I would think (I know, I know) that is what they would do anyway. What do I know though? I am just unfrozen caveman pediatrician.
On my county changing voting locations recently from the local public radio station… Although I can’t say for others in the county, we received updated copies of our precinct cards at least a month ago? Kind of last minute, but not totally last minute? I guess for the public announcement part of it? They also moved at least our closest early polling location… I’d assume the move was because they plan to do some work on the park gym that was our precinct and early voting location?
anyway, we already voted, so no problem for us.
More on the election that’s happening today…
Not sure I am too bothered with the primaries; they are pretty much already decided most places. But then it gets real. All VA based mutants (or whatever we are calling ourselves nowadays) need to be on top of this. November comes fast.
In New Jersey’s recent primary, the Democratic nominee received way more votes in total than the Republican nominee, even though turnout among registered Democrats and Republicans was pretty comparable. In other words, the independents all voted for the Democrat. I don’t know how Virginia’s primaries work, but a similar result there could be indicative of who might win in November.
In Virginia, you can vote in either primary. There is no Republican primary this time becase the second candidate withdrew.
On the Democratic party side, there is no primary for governor. There are primaries for LT Governor and Attorney General in addition to various local races l.
It’s really looking like Mamdani might pull this off!
Polling is super unreliable these days and I imagine that’s especially true for a ranked-choice voting system. But still, good news for Mamdani:
