Elections 2025-2026

I suspect Cuomo will get the lion’s share of that asshole vote, but who knows? He’ll also get some centrist/conservative Democratic votes, probably. I hope the party establishment officially endorses the party’s actual nominee instead of staying cozy with Cuomo.

The party has to endorse their nominee. Winning is the party endorsement.

Right, but I meant individuals who are part of the party establishment. Chuck Schumer, the Clintons, etc. I want them to say “Even though I supported Cuomo in the primary, Democratic voters have made their choice clear, so I am throwing my full support enthusiastically behind Mamdani” or something like that.

As a former Virginian, I wish a victory for Abigail Spanberger in November!

I would certainly hope so. When a progressive activist won the Democratic primary for mayor of Buffalo back in '21, Schumer and Gillibrand and the rest of the party establishment all gave their endorsement. Ultimately she lost to the incumbent’s write-in campaign.

two men are sitting at a table in a courtroom with a briefcase in front of them .

That’s something else that Mamdani is exposing: how rotten to the core the corporatized Dem establishment is.

This is Cuomo’s form of revenge.

With one Democrat and two semi-Democrats on the ballot, this could mean Curtis Sliwa will be elected mayor.

What I was reading is that Cuomo and Adams remaining in the race could definitely make the outcome less certain, but that even with vote splitting among Democrats Silwa still doesn’t appear to have much of a chance. He was polling in the single digits.

But as we’ve seen before nothing is guaranteed so New Yorkers should keep fingers crossed and still fight hard for the best candidate.

Jesus christ, she sounds fucking unhinged.

Re: Hochul and Gillibrand. See, this is what I was talking about above in reference to the Democratic establishment. They are not helping.

It’s frankly no surprise for Hochul. She’s shown she’s just as toxic as Cuomo, just in different ways.

As for Gillibrand, let’s just say this isn’t her first (or second) go around throwing progressives under the bus…

Well, color me disappointed but not shocked.

That’s a joke, right? So many Dem voters didn’t even know Biden dropped out until voting day.

Huh? Could you provide examples of that?

When people write things like that I don’t know if they are making a bad joke or whether I live in an alternate universe and I’m somehow communicating across planar boundaries via this BBS.

Anecdata: in the three or four weeks leading up to Election Day, in casual conversation, I had perhaps 8 to 10 people react variations on “He did?” when I mentioned Biden’s dropping out of the race.

I make absolutely no claims as to the size of this group relative to the Democratic-voting population at large, but there were definitely people out there who were not paying enough attention to even be aware of this. Quite frightening.

Okay, they didn’t buy smears against him this time, but we’ll have to wait and see about the general election. Now that he’s caused such a stir by winning the nom, I expect the smears to increse tenfold (and not just the ones about Palestine). I also think there’s some chance that Tramp will make big noises about the “need” to deport him, and that he might even have his goons do so.

That’s kinda amazing, but when I hear “so many Dem voters” I’m expecting millions, or at least hundreds of thousands.

We can start a tally, though. Let’s go ahead and take the larger amount in the estimate.

  1. 10
  2. ….
