On the bright side, the faster things collapse here, the more likely people will avoid making the same mistakes elsewhere. Kekius Maximus, or whatever he’s calling himself, will have a harder time willing in Germany.

The free market requires that you buy my product.
Musk has apparently been fine with administration plans to cut various programs that encourage people to buy electric cars, because it hurts all the other US manufacturers more than Tesla. But Canada (etc) singling him out for tariffs or other sanctions isn’t something that helps him, nor is it something that Trump can make better…
I keep seeing replies to these types of posts that are suggesting that the best way to resist these advances is to stop the money by not paying your taxes, even going so far as to suggest not filing your taxes this year.
Full disclosure: I work for a tax preparation company, but I am not a tax preparer, nor do I have any additional insight about the US tax code that informs my statements below. The following are opinions, and are my own…
I see no reason to believe that these fuckers would in any way be deterred by a lack of funds. The whole fix the deficit plan is just a smokescreen for their grift. I have no doubt that they would happily print money if they thought it would serve their purposes.
Unless you can somehow get an extremely large group of people to protest their taxes, the only effect this will have is on the individual taxpayers through paying penalties for late filing or back taxes.
Furthermore, since the vast majority of people pay their taxes through W-2 deductions from their paychecks, most have already paid their taxes, so not filing will only deprive them of the refund they are likely owed.
Seriously, boycotting taxes is not an effective means of protest.

Canada etc. should not just put sanctions on them, they should seriously look into whether cybertrucks, X, and all his other trash are meeting national regulations and actually come down on them hard when it turns out they are not. When Brazil did that Musk folded in a week. Obviously that’s a separate problem from Trump but the more consequences on these oligarchs the better.
We want to remind Americans why Elon Musk’s actions are illegal. The so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) was not established by Congress but was instead granted authority through an executive order by Trump, making its operations illegal. It is not an official department of the federal government. This system could provide Musk with a mechanism to unilaterally restrict the disbursement of funds approved by Congress—a move that has historically faced significant legal challenges.
DOGE teams have begun demanding access to data and systems at other federal agencies. However, none of these agencies control the flow of money in the way the Treasury Department does. Access to the federal payment system has always been tightly restricted due to its inclusion of sensitive personal information about millions of Americans who rely on Social Security checks, tax refunds, and other government payments.
In fiscal year 2023, the Treasury Department disbursed over $5 trillion through this system in a process typically overseen by civil servants. The stakes are incredibly high, and it is vital for Americans to understand the gravity of these actions. Please continue to spread the word and raise awareness.
I am on my way to our local one right now.
Yeah. Shit’s very real now. “Black” Monday coming up, very dark indeed.
I don’t know… I hope so… but it could also embolden other fascist and get them to double down? I hope you’re right, though.
I’m extremely worried that the DOI will shutter all NPs and lease them out to the big oil.
We were at an Inter-Agency visitor center last weekend. I’m trying not to project, but they seemed very subdued. I didn’t even want to say anything negative, for fear that some Trumper-visitor overhears our conversation and they get targeted.
Staffed by a combination of U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, and Sierra Forever employees, we provide visitor information for camping, hiking and backpacking, highway and weather conditions for the Eastern Sierra.
Maybe we (Canada) need to ease up on tariffs on Chinese EV imports and let XPeng and BYD into the Canadian market.

Congress passed the Foreign Assistance Act on September 4, 1961, which reorganized U.S. foreign assistance programs and mandated the creation of an agency to administer economic aid. USAID was subsequently established by the executive order of President John F. Kennedy, who sought to unite several existing foreign assistance organizations and programs under one agency.[4] USAID became the first U.S. foreign assistance organization whose primary focus was long-term socioeconomic development.

Sounds like just the excuse Hair Furor is looking for to invade Canada.
Well, Canada is really, really big, so that’s going to be difficult. They’ll get up here and find mostly emptiness. And yes, they could target large cities on the border, like Toronto and Vancouver, but that would be easier for our military to defend, and our military although small, is very competent.
Could your military please start by targeting the wankpanzers?
