That, as I understand it, is a term invented in the 1950s based on the Greek word for “oar” and has to do with control system theories. So, yeah. I would have named it “BlockyVehicle.”

Yes, taken up to refer to control systems theory (in an engineering sense), in that having something that you set up and just goes is fair enough, but sometimes you need to control it, steer it, speed it up or stop it, change its parameters, and that all made sense to treat as its own specialisation of engineering, and it was realised quite early on that computers were, among other things, the sort of thing you’d want as a general purpose control system.

And also gubernator as the direct Latin equivalent…which I mention because even though none of these words have anything to do with flammable dumpsters, Gooberwagon is kind of a fitting name for them.
For the record, ancient Greek for oar was kōpē, for instance in copepods.

But as others have mentioned, the stock is still ludicrously overvalued based on economic fundamentals such as the price to earnings ratio. Here’s hoping that investors finally wake up to that and it drops much, much further.
