Sheesh, pretty mild really. It doesnāt even include a guillotine.
Yeah, I think thatās a big part of the reason she quit over it. Thatās just not even that bad at all. Plus itās arguably just a representation of the truth, since all of those people are donating money for the inauguration.
So Spotify is quietly pushing music by musicians who give up certain royalty rights, and probably pushing AI-regurgitated āmusicā by fake artists too, all for the sake of even higher profits for its already very wealthy shareholders.
Ugh. Happy happy joy joy.
Iām just going to point this out: There is no reason to use Spotify. Or any of the other streaming services either, when you are able to listen to any radio station from anywhere around the world.
Is there a missing ānoā in that sentence?
Yes. Fixed. These glasses arenāt great for iPhone typing.
Wellā¦theyāre not really the same thing. Spotify isnāt like a radio station. Yes, they have some radio-like features where you can have the app choose the next song, but itās really a music library. If I want to listen to Led Zeppelin IV right now, I can do that on Spotify even though I donāt own the album. I canāt do that just by listening to a radio station. Please note: I am not defending Spotify at all. Iām just saying, streaming radio doesnāt do what Spotify does.
Telnaesās preliminary sketch for the cartoon is showing up in numerous news outlets including other major newspapers. WaPo has reported the story and attached a link to Annās substack blog which includes the sketch. I wonder how WaPo got that around/through Bezos? Did they say, āCanāt stop the signal, Jeff, so may as well report the news and at least appear to be diligent and objectiveā?
I know. But that guy was using it like a radio station. Iām just saying there are better, human-based ways of finding new music. And then if there is something he knows he likes, he can buy it.
That seems odd to me. Iāve never found that functionality of Spotify to be very ā¦ well ā¦ functional. Iāve always used it like a digital music library so I donāt have to go buy hundreds or thousands of CDs/Vinyl/Etc. I may start buying again, though. I purchased my first physical CD last year in forever.
For the bands that i really like, i usually buy the CD to support them. I rarely actually listen to CDs anymore, but that may change.
Yeah thatās why I bought St. Vincentās new album on CD last year. But I also think I want to start owning copies of music that canāt be taken away from me by a company going out of business, or being bought out by someone else, or just through a change in TOS, which is the case with all digital music. I donāt even trust buying digital music on iTunes or Amazon. Maybe I should start buying vinyl, lol.
