That’s shopped… I can tell by the pixels!
Wuhhhh? I’m beginning to doubt your commitment to Feline Motion!
Interesting perspective from a trans journalist working for a Times-owned outlet. Gods I hate the Times…
Donna Cartwright was a copy editor for the Times for decades. I think she transitioned in the 90’s and retired in 2007ish.
The Times is worse now than it was then.
Rachel Maddow mentions the daily protests:
Too bad mainstream media outlets only mention them when they’re considered to be a major event like “Hands Off” or May Day, with headlines that make them seem sporadic:
In this article about Reverend William Barber’s arrest, the interviewer’s question had me SMH:
today we have people, including people in the media, arguing that the resistance is dead, that people on the left are exhausted.
A lot of mainstream journalists think it’s more important to stick it to the far-left SJWs on bluesky than it is to accurately convey the far-right assault on democracy coming from the government. It’s an absolute sickness and a huge part of what got us here.
I actually went and read that article. Well, parts of it I skimmed because 3/4 of it is about the past and what being in the closet used to mean and what the consequences were. In other words, it’s a really shallow look at the history of gay celebrities. The last bit got into today, and makes some odd claim about some gay men going back in the closet because (a) it’s transgressive and because (b) trans issues are dominating public discussions of LGBTQ rights. In other words, the tl;dr of the entire piece seems to be “Won’t someone think of the poor gay men!” And not poor as in impoverished, but poor as an they aren’t the center of attention.
Can I also add: having read and traveled a fair bit, I can say with some confidence that the US “far left” could fit into a high school basketball court with room to spare. The people being slammed by journalists aren’t far-left. Like, not at all. e.g. In every other rich country, universal healthcare is about as “far left” as “traffic rules are a good idea”.
