He played a rather charming, but thoroughly dislikable South American ambassador in an episode of A&E’s Nero Wolfe series - S02E16 ∙ Immune to Murder. He was from the fictional country of Venzenhuega, if Memory serves, and tried bribing Wolfe with a gaudily large but flawed emerald.

GenX survived the 1988 stock market crash, the 2000 stock market crash, the 2001 stock market crash, the 2008 stock market crash, the first Gulf war, the second Gulf war, 2003 Afghanistan invasion, 1996 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, the final 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, the white supremecist terrorist attack on the 1996 Atlanta summer Olympic games, the 1994 same category of terrorist attack on the Oklahoma City Federal Building, Columbine high school, etc., etc.
Boomers can claim additional “world changing” calamities.
Normal is never normal.
Everyone alive then survived it.
We also survived Reagan. We survived the constant threat of nuclear annihilation. The oldest Gen Xers survived Vietnam and Nixon. Us Gen Xers have seen some shit.
The Satanic Panic. The Moral Majority. The PMRC.
I was just sticking with events we were definitely present for as adults. Yeah, we’ve lived through some damned interesting times.
It’s pretty sad that I’m looking back at the Clinton years as stable and prosperous compared to every administration before and after throughout my lifetime.
