It used to be a kind of standard burger place. Also pretty good chili, and chili mac. Pretty good shakes if the machine was working. Everything else mediocre, except that their fries have been awful as long as I can remember. Imagine shoestring potatoes, swimming in grease, not even necessarily served hot.
I can’t imagine switching from vegetable oil (if indeed they ever used it) to tallow is any improvement.

I very rarely make chips but I have done triple cooked in tallow and they were very good indeed.
I’ll never do them again though as it wasn’t worth the effort.

Yeah the burgers are fine, fries are between mid to forgettable, but the highlight for me was always the shakes. The beef tallow is a big whatever for me, it’s neither a plus or minus but the MAGA chasing is a huge minus so I will never go back.

At our local Steak & Shake, the shake machine was always down at least half the time (…“so it’s just steak then?”) and service was always SUPER slow. Plus they went out of business right about when the pandemic hit anyway.
Culver’s is our spot for the occasional burger and shake, but we split onion rings and cheese curds rather than fries.
