Disney doesn’t actually own “Aladdin and the Magic Lamp,” or whatever the story is really called. “Aladdin and the Magic Lamp” is in the public domain. Anybody could make a movie out of it.
All Disney owns is the shit it made up for the previous Disney film with Aladdin in it.
So rehashing the shit it made up for the previous film is not only likely here, it’s basically REQUIRED
i can understand the pressure Will Smith would feel under in taking on the role, and i appreciate that he doesn’t appear to try to duplicate Robin William’s version. making it his own is fine by me. i don’t really see a need for a live action version either, but i get that it’s a way for disney to reintroduce it to a new generation, so /shrug.
Amazon is a scammer’s paradise. That fact makes it very, very difficult for me to sign up for Prime to watch the Amazon shows I want to watch. I just can’t do it. Too much outright fraud, theft, and other abuse on Amazon for me to participate in that… trash pile. I’m not glad that Bezos is getting divorced or that he’s been targeted by the Deep Mobs that are taking over the country. I’m not glad. But I have zero sympathy for him or Thiel or any of the other folks that make it difficult to do business honestly.
I could see something like that being good if they could get it up and flying. The reboot always has the opportunity to cash in on the original audience as long as it has something to carry it past those first couple of episodes
