Been awhile since we’ve seen “Disney” and “anal sex” in the same sentence (or close enough.)

… in the future, will everybody get even better at spotting “A.I. art,” or will it improve so much that we have no hope of keeping up

I don’t know it he’s weird or not, but he’s certainly a Large Ham!

The quote about Nicolas Cage cracked me up so much.

Nicolas Cage approaches every role the same way — how wouldn’t a real person tackle this situation? This is often executed on camera by a series of facial spasms to shame even Jim Carrey or a Tex Avery cartoon, as Cage contorts and tics his way through a series of either unrestrained emotion or unpleasant bowel turmoil.”

My family loves his movies, but I always thought of him as monotonous and only having one expression. Like the Anyone teacher. I guess if you ham it all up to the same level, it’s not much different.

My dad used to say we should all worship the sun because without it, we’d all be dead.

He was right.

(just catching up in this thread, so apologies for the historical pull) Not exactly a 1:1, but this reminded me of a footnote I just caught from a fascinating book I’ve been reading recently called Spinal Catastrophism: A Secret History:

In [J.G] Ballard’s words, our moment is one wherein ‘the fictional elements in the world around us are multiplying to a point where it is almost impossible to distinguish between the “real” and the “false” – the terms no longer have any meaning. The faces of public figures are projected at us as if out of some endless pantomime, they and the events of the world at large have the conviction and reality of those depicted on giant advertisement holdings. The task of the arts seems more and more to be that of isolating the few elements of reality from this mélange of fictions, not some metaphorical “reality,” but simply the basic elements of our cognition and posture that are the jigs and props of our consciousness.’

emphasis mine

Like so much of the writing I’ve read, I understand this very well, but I couldn’t explain it in my own words.
