Discrimination of different levels of brightness?
I did some quick manipulation (greyscale then adjusting histogram for more contrast) and got this (I used spoiler; I didn’t blur it!).

I probably lost information and added & amplified noise. But I don’t see the Fonz in either this or the original.

Whether your eyes have spent time calibrating your display or not?

ETA: not meant to be directed at you, personally, I just meant that it seems as much (or more) of a display test as an eye test.
