Those lifebergs are such a good source of mid-game cash.
Yeah, those crabs have been my downfall more than once.
Thanks for the tip. They sure hit hard in the early game, though.
Impressive
is Stellaris a decent game? I remember liking spaceward ho, and aasension, and moo2, and reach for the stars.
I picked up 7 Billion Humans yesterday on sale (heh, sounds like the start of a joke)ā¦
Itās a sequel to Human Resource Machine, a programming puzzle game. While the first one had you writing code for one worker to carry out, the sequel is focused around code that groups of workers carry out in parallel.
You drag available segments of code into your program and just set variables, so thereās no typing. It feels to me a bit more relaxed to play than, say, most of the Zachtonrics programming games.
I donāt know anything about Stellaris, but if you liked Master of Orion, you should check out Remnants of the Precursors. Itās a labor of love to keep the original MOO gameplay intact while giving it a more modern UI and although itās not finished yet, itās already fun to play. Also itās free.
Also if you happened to like Star Control 2 (a little different than 4Xās you mentioned, but if you liked them thereās a good chance youād like it), The Ur-Quan Masters is an excellent modernization. That one had some of the original SC2 authors involved. Also free.
Curse youā¦Iām not sure Iām strong enough to resist ā¦
Just got Legend of heroes: Trails of cold steel. Iāll be in my bunk. Playing video games.
Iām always a little wary of remakes of classics, especially conversions from one format to another (boardgames to PC, for instance). But based on the comments here (and it being on sale), I decided to try the new Battletech this weekend. I was pleasantly surprised, it actually does feel like Battletech! They didnāt try to turn it into some kind of dumbed-down action shooter or multiplayer-only open-world survivalist game.
I couldnāt find a manual, not even a quick-reference, and there doesnāt seem to be any help or tutorial in the game, so I spent my first few games just trying to figure out the UI and mechanics. Luckily, I had played the boardgame and the older Mechwarrior games, so I had a frame of reference.
I played the same skirmish with the same default forces on the same map 3 times. The first time I lost badly, only taking down the enemy scout Locust before they destroyed my lance. The second went a bit better. By the third I was figuring out how initiative and LOS and evasion worked and I managed to turn the tables and wipe out their entire lance while losing only my Locust and taking light armor damage on the others.
Overall seems fun, playable, and pretty true to the source. Think Iām ready to try the campaign.
Not ready for dark, but may interest some of you.
Just traded for Starforce: Alpha Centauri.
Thereās a solitaire scenario involving evacuation before a star goes nova, but most of it involves 2-player or 3-player scenarios involving hidden movement and simultaneous movement. Which seems ideal for a computer game, but can limit playability in a board game.
Just got cuphead. Looks like itās going to take a few gos to get to the knack.
Been playing a lot of Civilization V Gold lately. I will never cease to be amused by the new and inventive ways there are to mess with other players.
That game is hard, but itās so satisfying to finally beat a stage after the 50th try.
Iām not half way through yet, one day Iāll beat it though.
Iāve been struggling to find a game that I want to play. Iāve bought several that were supposed to be great, but I just kinda lost interest. Firewatch made me feel like I was being led by the nose through a story that I didnāt really want to know. Sunless Sea lost me in the controls, I think. Something about it just didnāt click. I tried picking up The Sims 4 again, as well as Simcity, and Civ 6 but I think I spent too much time playing them the first go-round that I couldnāt bear doing it all over again. Same with Planetbase though itās distracting for a bit. Iām not twitchy enough to get into Fortnite or its brethren.
I ended up re-subscribing to WoW again, and despite knowing everything there is to know about levelling up in the game, itās scratching the itch, but making me realize what a rut I am in, game-wise.
Have you seen the extra credits channel on youtube does the ocasional āgames you might not have triedā video? Might give you a jumping off point.
