Michel Foucault: Even when the Elf is not on the Shelf, you are never free of it. You carry the Elf within you, monitoring your own conduct for Naughtiness. You hold yourself prisoner within a self-surveilled snow globe of Santa’s making.
@dril: santa bowed his head solemnly and spoke: “theres actually zero difference between naughty and nice. you imbecile. you fucking moron”
What instrument do you use it with?
Electric Triangle
Needs more electronic cowbell!
It’s a guitar pedal, but it sounds awesome on anything! The dub guys would use it on the guitar skanks but my guitar skill is absolute beginner and I can’t do the barre chords to skank. I feed synth stabs, pads and drum machines through it.
Cool! OK, now we gotta hear it.
I cant help but think that comic series is ai generated
Hmm. And here I’ve been thinking that it’s just someone’s cute take on alien immigrants.
I suppose Nathan W. Pyle could be a fake human.
I had to go back on Facebook a few months ago (for wedding notifications) and saw my feed cluttered with so much ai crap that I assumed this strip was ai generated too.
Yesterday I dozed off with ST Voyager season 5 episode “Relativity” queued up, and I kept hearing Chakotay talking about different parts of the ship experiencing different times. Now this:
For those curious about Yooper lingo, Chooks are knit winter caps. I think the origin is sort of a phonetic spelling of a French word. Chooks, choppers (mittens), and swampers (winter boots, usually Sorels in the 80s/90s) are key to enjoying the outdoors in winter. I was the youngest brother, so my swampers were usually leaky with worn-out treads, and I stuffed my feet into bread bags to keep them dry. I don’t think we had a fun word for that, though.
Another fun Yooper winter word is “pank”, which Roxane Gay used as the title of the literature journal she co-founded while living up here:
Do you live up in da UP?
I do! Grew up here, live here again. You are from the Milwaukee area, correct? I spent a pretty fun summer in Greenfield. Did some mullet-watching at Western Days, saw Keanu Reaves and Dogstar at Summerfest. As one does.
