Happy Holidays!

Wow. The UP is like another world. Almost like a piece of Michigan attached to Wisconsin or something crazy like that.

The only person I saw at Summerfest was Gordon Hinkley. Maybe Bob Uecker.

That’s wild, there were thousands of people at Summerfest when I went! The U.P. is very much like an extension of Wisconsin’s Northwoods close to the border, but it gets weirder the further out you go.

I don’t doubt it. Kind of isolated, like Maine. A place to “get away from it all.”

Isn’t that where George Carlin got arrested for saying seven dirty words?

Legend.

Today’s Toronto :canada: Star, read the second letter…

… My wife would check the bird every so often to baste it and make sure it was turning a golden brown. On her last inspection, all hell broke loose! “The turkey has shrunk. It has shrunk to nothing!” she cried out. We all rushed to the kitchen to see what the fuss was all about and to everyone surprised the turkey had indeed shrunk to the size of a small chicken.

French Canadian: toques or tuques. It’s “t” to “tch”, which seems reasonable over time.

Yep, that’s the one I was thinking of. I didn’t know that the pronunciation had shifted as well.
