Taquitos go metal:
I saw this today during a meeting with my boss. We both cheered and agreed it will be the best five day food safety period ever!
(Because of course Cheetolini will reverse the ban on the pretense that Red No 3 and leaded ice cream are what made america great.)
The products subject to this recall were distributed to “retail stores and e-commerce distributors in Oregon and Washington,” according to Frito-Lay, and consumers “would have been able to purchase these chips as early as Nov. 3, 2024.”
Recalled products bear a “Guaranteed Fresh” date of Feb. 11, 2025, and the UPC code 28400 31041, according to the company’s official recall website. The recalled 13-ounce bags, which are yellow and include a red Lay’s logo and a blue “Party Size” banner, also bear the manufacturing codes 6462307xx or 6463307xx.
Probably not a horrible danger, but c’mon, man, is it that hard to control what is going ito those bags?
But that would cost money! Money that should, by all rights, be going into our honchos’ and stockholders’ pockets!

recall of coca cola branded drinks due to contamination with cleaning fluid:uk:

first recall is belgium, luxembourg, and the netherlands:belgium:
second recall is united kingdom🇬🇧, might be more to come
(and also some were shipped to france and germany and other places in europe, no recalls there (yet?) )
Coca-Cola has recalled its drinks in some countries across Europe because they contain "higher levels" of a chemical called chlorate.
...
Chlorate can be produced when chlorine-based disinfectants are used in water treatment and food processing.
...
Affected products include the Coke, Fanta, Sprite, Tropico and Minute Maid brands, according to the Belgium branch of Coca-Cola's international bottling and distribution operation.
...
The company added the issue has affected "a very small number of imported cans" of Appletiser, Coca-Cola Original Taste, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Diet Coke and Sprite Zero with production codes from 328 GE to 338 GE" which Coca-Cola said can be found on the base of the can.
...
Exposure to high levels of chlorate can cause health problems including thyroid problems, especially among children and infants.
emphasis mine.
**Cans of Coca-Cola Original Taste, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Diet Coke, and Sprite Zero** sent to cafes and restaurants are being withdrawn as well as **6x250ml Appletiser multipacks** sent to UK supermarkets.…
The affected cans carry production codes from 328 GE to 338 GE on their base.
emphasis mine.
this is an ongoing situation with some really confusing messaging trying to downplay how many drinks this is, and may involve more countries, more products, and more recalls down the line.
the long story short here is a TON of coca cola drinks in europe have the leftovers of cleaning fluid in them, and there are probably going to be a lot more developments here.
it is a good time to avoid coca cola drinks.
Yes.
Provepharm, an international pharmaceutical company with U.S. offices in Pennsylvania, has recalled a lot of phenylephrine hydrochloride injections after a customer discovered “visible black particulate matter” in a sealed vial.
“Administration of an injectable product containing particulate matter may cause local irritation or swelling as a response to the foreign material,” according to a recall notice shared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). “If the particulate matter enters the blood vessels, it can travel to various organs and potentially blocking blood vessels in the heart, lungs or brain, leading to serious complications such as stroke or even death.”
I seriously doubt this will impact any readers of this, as it is an injectable mostly used in the ICU for hypotension, but as protections go away and communication is limited, I will try to keep up to date on what fuckery is going on in my field. Don’t look at me like that, it’s a coping mechanism!
I thank you for your service, Doc!
“Visible particulate matter” would be sufficient. But “Black contaminant” causes more headlines?
DEI contaminants?
Not sure though about that website because I’ve never seen it before.
It does link to the primary source.
ETA: Wow, that header date is screwed up. Looks like it interpreted US date as European.
Was coming over to post this from a different website.
This is due to the cans posing a botulism risk.
Botulism?!
The Chicago-based company, a unit of PepsiCo, recalled 2-pound boxes of Pearl Milling Company Original Pancake & Waffle Mix sold in stores in 11 states. Consumers would have been able to buy the affected pancake mix as early as November 2024. The boxes have a UPC code of 30000 65040 and a best-by date of Sept. 13, 2025.
This is like the 3rd or 4th “contains milk” recall recently. What the hell?
Probably more a Healthcare PSA type article rather than a recall. Unless Europe is getting recalled. That would be huge…
