Oh, my. Tomorrow is looking a bit nippy
But what does it feel like…
Oh.
Maybe… maybe don’t go anywhere tomorrow.
Damn.
I believe that there’s no such thing as “too cold,” only “not properly dressed,” but… yeah, that’s getting to be too cold.
As for how it is here… I’ve had cold winters, and I’ve had snowy winters, but this is both the coldest snowy winter and the snowiest cold winter I can remember experiencing. The snowy winters I remember were always interrupted by thaws every week or two, and the really cold ones were always bright and sunny. This is something new.
It’s fantastic for skiing (since I have all sorts of warm gear to protect against the cold, and the more fresh snow and less melting, the better), but the roads are a mess, and it’s not so fun to be outside when I’m not skiing. And I don’t think it’s quite reached the point where I’m willing to don ski goggles for my commute.
Yeah, Mars is a bit chilly this time of year.
Oh, you live where?
“Properly dressed” in this case is “wear a well-insulated building with reliable central heat.”
Or a Taunton.
I can remember when this used to be normal, for about a week every winter. But now that it hasn’t been experienced in a generation, it really stands out.
Most things are closed in Chicago tomorrow, so at least in the interim we’ve learned that life-threatening cold really is more important than making people go to school and work.
Nope, not even there:
That won’t be warm. After all somerset. It’s winter now.
Doesn’t seem terrible.
Note: forced ad plays first…
Another video of the frozen Chicago River, which is quite unexpected in a moving body of water coming directly from the Great Lakes system:
Wow.
This St Patrick’s day, instead of dyeing the water green, will they have guys out there on the ice with green paint rollers instead?
Nah, just feed the citizens way too much green beer, roll them out onto the ice, and let the inevitable take care of painting the river.
Oh right. I forgot about the geese.
Ice is always green in Chicago, no need to paint it.
On behalf of Canadians: you’re welcome.
And keep the geese.
Depends on the food colouring type – a lot of them go straight through, unaltered by digestion and unaffected by other waste by-products.
Yes, speaking from experience.
