Holy shit! WTF?!?
Chicago area?
Yes. The sky turned dark and weird colours for a bit and visibility dropped but it was gone within an hour.
A friend lives out that way. He says he’s never experienced it before, at least not there.
Yesterday’s storm brought torrential rain to SE Pennsylvania and tornado warnings in New Jersey:
I’ve never had so many alerts pop up on my phone in a single day. Luckily, we didn’t have any power outages or many high wind / tree issues in my neighborhood. However, I spent part of yesterday evening getting water out of my car, and have to do round 2 later today. It’s becoming a routine older car issue.
20°C is also my high threshold.
Born and raised in California and I’ve never enjoyed the sun.
(Insert “I should really move to Iceland” cat-reading-newspaper meme here.)
Another wave of storms with tornado warnings. We just had a really brief but intense spot pass over us with big loud hail, but not a lot of rain. It’s just the leading edge though, there’s a wider but less intense band behind it and another medium sized one behind that.
Stay safe!
It turned out OK. Tornado sirens woke me up a bit after midnight but they tend to go off county-wide even when the warnings are for a smaller area. We didn’t even get basement flooding this time, and no car damage from the hail even though it sounded like big chunks.
Glad to hear it!
I guess that’s the line that’s gonna hit N. GA later? We might get some down here in the ATL…
Weather in NYC has been odd for the past few months. Perhaps every 10 days we have an abnormally hot day, then the weather goes back to being abnormally cold.
On Saturday the high temperature was 80 (about 27), and now it feels like autumn again with highs in the mid-60s. I even brought out my space heater last night.
Lucked out tonight: tornadic storms passed north and south of us. Damage reports and power outages abound.
@mindysan33 it looks like these storms will stay north of metro ATL tonight.
Storm chaser drove into one of the earlier tornadoes:
We got some thunderstorms last night, but nothing too serious… although it did cause my tallest tomato to flop over!
Glad you’re safe!!!
High temperature today = 55 (13).
So much for that global warming! Am I right?
I know was joke, don’t worry. It’s actually warmer up here right now, topped out at 59 degrees. This past weekend I cut the grass for the first time and it was in the 40s. Perfection.
