I wonder if it comes from the fact that milk is very slightly more effective than water at neutralizing the effects of capsaicin when you eat hot chile peppers, and many tear gases use pepper spray? Even with eating hot peppers, though, the milk is only very, very slightly better than water. The problem with capsaicin, both in eating it and in pepper sprays and tear gas, is that it’s not water soluble. That makes it very persistent in staying around in places that cause lots of pain.

Ugh, people are going goofy about Newsom’s public address. I mean, it’s the bare minimum. It only looks courageous in contrast to T****’s perfidity. It’s nauseous to see people talking about him looking “presidential.” He only looks that way in comparison to a guy who can barely walk or say a complete sentence and can’t remember what he had for lunch.

Aside from water, lots of water, they state "What’s worked well and is still in the running is:
- liquid antacid (ie Maalox)- seems to work only on eyes - not on skin. Mineral oil followed by alcohol- only on skin- never in the eyes
- hairdryer -from the Scottish literature works quite well (though is obviously impractical)
- Chinese burn cream- has worked on skin for some not all- not for use in the eyes"
But reformulations since that test may change things.

We’ll see if that actually happens. I commute into DC, and I don’t see any of the obvious signs of a large number of people coming in for an event. No heavier traffic than usual, no larger influx of Turons on the streets than usual, no crowd control barricades on the obvious parade routes, no traffic redirection in preparation for a huge event.
My guess is that he’ll have fewer people than his first inauguration, and people who do show up will include Non-MAGAts who just like to see the military hardware. (Which is what I would do on Saturday if it the Fanta Fascist wasn’t involved in it.)

If his threshold is everyone if in fucking Los Angeles knows each other, it’s basically “until it stops being fun for us” because it’s meaningless to contemplate.
Being form Santa Monica, he knows how mind bendingly huge LA is. It’s just ur-fascism again. “Disagreement is treason” with a smattering of a bunch of the others. He’s someone for whom words need not mean anything, and it makes me so fucking mad that some people act like this is OK.
When is the general strike? I feel like nothing short of that will even make a difference.

Seriously, though, LAPD needs to be held accountable for their illegal actions. This officer needs to be in prison for a long time. This is attempted murder. Less-lethal rounds are only less-lethal when used according to instructions - at longer range than this and fired at the ground, not the person.
