LA ICE Protest Topic

I got my two free tickets!

This childless cat lady and her cat will be going to a No Kings protest in West Chester, PA. I hope the orange turd enjoys seeing the empty space on his parade route.

Try not to get the mint flavored kind. Mint on mucus membranes is not great. At least liquid antacid requires no refrigeration.

If his threshold is everyone if in fucking Los Angeles knows each other, it’s basically “until it stops being fun for us” because it’s meaningless to contemplate.

Being form Santa Monica, he knows how mind bendingly huge LA is. It’s just ur-fascism again. “Disagreement is treason” with a smattering of a bunch of the others. He’s someone for whom words need not mean anything, and it makes me so fucking mad that some people act like this is OK.

When is the general strike? I feel like nothing short of that will even make a difference.

Also see “Any protestors will see very heavy force!” Because the right to not agree with your government apparently goes away when a Republican is in office.

Seriously, though, LAPD needs to be held accountable for their illegal actions. This officer needs to be in prison for a long time. This is attempted murder. Less-lethal rounds are only less-lethal when used according to instructions - at longer range than this and fired at the ground, not the person.

To be fair, that’s been true for decades now.

Not to mention the LA County Sheriff’s Department, which is even worse.

So they’re arresting protesters, but claiming it’s not legally an arrest, so it’s not limited by any laws.

Even temporary detentions are limited by law. There needs to be a mobilization of attorneys happening right now. There are so many laws being broken it’s scary. And I’m afraid it’s going to overwhelm our judicial system’s ability to restrain such blatant overreach.

perhaps that is a goal to the chaos that is rapidly unfolding? we know tha tRump wants to discredit the judiciary, in order to be able to unilaterally make his “royal” decrees without legal ramifications or pushback.

The way this was handled during the Portland BLM protests was:

  1. The DA refused to press charges on protesters en masse. The PPB had arrested so many people without a reason, evidence, or following proper procedure that the DA just refused to prosecute.
  2. Likewise, judges issued orders en masse. They just told PPB to stop arresting protesters for no reason, with no probable cause. They ordered all state and local law enforcement to cease using CS gas or less-lethal ammunition because it was being used against peaceful protesters, bystanders, kids, press, etc. It was being misused (used directly against instructions printed on the ammunition and against training). It was being overused - the Columbia River was testing positive for CS gas a hundred miles downstream from downtown Portland and soil samples within a mile of the protest area were toxic for months.

The term of art right now is “Flooding the zone”.

This is all deliberate.

My local Facebook groups are warning people to stay away from the No Kings protest taking place on an overpass of a busy freeway.

They believe the plan is to throw bricks at cars.

They’re preparing to run down protestors if they throw a brick at their car.

Gonna be an interesting Saturday or more than likely an uneventful day with people showing their frustrations with the current situation.

There shouldn’t be a No Kings protest taking place on an overpass. That sounds like bait. Even if the goal is to wave signs at passing drivers, that’s a terrible fucking idea. Distracting drivers at highway speeds is stupid and dangerous.

Yeah, this sounds like a trap, and reads totally like fake BS one finds on shitbook. It’s not difficult to find actual information on where rallies are planned using search engines.

I did some digging. (& @tcg550 ) The official No Kings event in Port Huron is pretty close to downtown. They don’t list an address for the actual protest, which is suspect, but they do mention parking at McLaren. There’s no overpass in easy walking distance there. There’s the actual border checkpoint due North, but there is no pedestrian access as far as I can tell. I would expect that overpass is NOT publicly accessible because it is literally right above the checkpoint.

My guess is that someone’s posting fake events on social media as @IronEdithKidd says. Looking at the map and with my old, out of date familiarity of PH, it looks like the official even is going to be downtown. It’s on the wrong side of the river to access the next overpass back on I94.
