Yeah, I wouldn’t go near that protest. I know that overpass and I696 drivers don’t need any more of a challenge than they already face. People go 90+ in the “canyon”. My mom used to commute there and she called it the Michigan Autobahn.
ETA: I sent an email to the No Kings organizers letting them know that the location should not be used and should not be sanctioned by No Kings. They are doing the organization conference calls right now, so they may already be on top of it. But I let them know it’s not a good idea.
National Guard troops have temporarily detained civilians in LA protests, commander says
WASHINGTON (AP) — National Guard troops already have temporarily detained civilians in the Los Angeles protests over immigration raids, the commander in charge said Wednesday, but they quickly turned them over to law enforcement.
Yeah, apparently the commander of the CMG and Marines for the LA situation made the statement the National Guard troops had detained civilians based on unconfirmed photos of other agencies doing so. He didn’t know whether it was troops under his command or a completely different organization. And he didn’t bother checking.
What’s bothering me is how many left leaning people I know who are believing the lies about the levels of violence and rioting going on there. I have one friend who said he’s leaving the Democratic Party and registering as an Independent over the violent insurrection in LA. And he’s getting that not from FoxNews, but from NewsNation, that allegedly unbiased news network that Chris Cuomo went to after he got fired from CNN.
welcome back to it could happen here. A podcast that was originally about the theoretical possibility of mass civil conflict and coming militarized authoritarian regime and is now about the reality of that happening to different communities at different speeds all around the country…
Yes! Go to Clark Park and then eat at Armando’s right across Vernor! Yummy!
[EAT: {LOLZ! Great tyop!} um, ETA, that is: Armando’s also owns the godly Mexicantown Bakery on the next corner, right across Clarkdale. You can just walk over there after dining. I most highly recco them, too!]
And safe journeys to you and all the protestors everywhere!!!
We have a former preacher here who frequently stands on an overpass on I81 waving a flag or a sign. Last weekend he put up a “No Kings” banner. But i don’t know that you can call it a protest if it’s just one guy.
