MSNBC just told it like it was:
The streamer I was watching rode around the city on an e-bike for about two hours past curfew looking for trouble, and they couldn’t find anything, just masses of police standing around. They said, it was like the protesters just melted away. (If anything took place elsewhere, or in other parts of LA, I haven’t heard about it yet.)
It’s Our Lady of Blessed Convenient Parking, actually.

LAPD and LA Sheriffs tried to prevent two large protests from joining together in downtown and both departments ended up hitting EACH OTHER with impact munitions from across the same interesection.
Many of the LA Sheriffs didn’t have their gas masks on yet so the Sheriffs got gassed by LAPD
LAPD was on the radio crying about getting shot by rubber bullets by the sheriffs, so I’d say fair trade
Typical level of professional policing for Los Angeles. Waiting for CHP to join the fun.
Starting off with bella ciao, a song with both labor rights and ant-fascist roots, lovely.
This is inevitably going to turn in to a justification to declare martial law, right? Fucking hell.
I hope everyone there is staying as safe as possible while knowing your rights and giving them hell.
Aside from MSNBC, I keep seeing news sources reporting the LAPD claim that some protesters had begun setting off fireworks and throwing bricks.
Wouldn’t surprise me if the “fireworks” were LASD’s flashbangs and the bricks were imaginary…
And the “bricks” were LASD less-lethal rounds.
The NY Times couldn’t confirm there was a No Kings protest in St Louis? Please.
I had a nice conversation with my daughter (who lives in Seattle) yesterday afternoon. She and her boyfriend went to a “No Kings” rally in a small suburb on the North side of the city on Saturday; her sign read “No Faux-King Way!”. She’s been to a few events like this in that suburb, and said that they typically are attended by 10-20 “older” folks (70-ish). This one, she said, had closer to 1,000.
Every now and then, I feel like my wife and I must have done an OK job as parents. (I know she did; I am always unsure about myself.)
Yes, also, having a single dot ignores the fact that some cities had multiple locations of protests. It wasn’t just in downtown, it was in at least 4 or 5 places in the metro, and there were protests in places like Athens, too, I’m sure.
Glad I’m not the only one pissed off by that map. They “couldn’t confirm” any of the protests in west Texas?! I mean, it really wasn’t hard to find pictures. Not that I believe they tried at all. They put little tiny dots on some major cities and scattered a few more for kicks. Then chose the most boring and anemic presentation of their “map” possible. Notice how most states only have a single one?
