Love in the Time of COVID-19

I’ve been doing a lot of artwork, mostly coloring; but it takes a toll on my right wrist, so when I’m not doing that, I post things.

Yes I FEEL NEED TO RATIONALIZE WHADDYA GONNA DO ABOUT IT?

I would be such a nuisance in one of those things…too much like bumper cars.

Is this a surprise? They’ve done commercial work (both new songs and letting their old ones being used for products, the swiffer), and they put together a kids version of devo a few years back.

And as most bands can’t tour to pay the bills…

Good for Morgan.

The Swiffer was contractual obligation…

Dev2.0 was subversive

Yeah, okay, I got nothing.

De-evolution is very real.

To be fair, I would actually like a Devo face mask of some variety, but I’m most disappointed by the matter-of-fact names they were given.

Back in the 80s they would have called these something like “Infectious Human-Based Plague Containment Units.” Or maybe “Voluntary Social Distancing Enforcement Shield Type 3.”

In that they signed a contract to do it? but apparently they regretted it, but still…

My point is that I don’t see a reason for a band making a decision that pays the bills? Being an artist doesn’t mean you can live on applause and nostalgia. People got to eat.

Also, these seem very much in the spirit of their last album where they really played up the capitalist aspect of the music biz. I seem to remember some video where they were part of a marketing meeting and doing a pitch on the new album, merchandise, etc.

“Some patients died no matter what we did, and we could not change that outcome,” Akers said. “It did not matter if they were young or old. This virus did not discriminate.”

There is no way to summarize this article, you have to read the whole thing to see the convergence of stupidity.

The far-right Vox party urged supporters to drive through major cities without leaving their vehicles in order to maintain social distancing.

Protesters in the capital, Madrid, drove in convoy and waved Spanish flags as they called for socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to resign.

The “far-rigt” just loooves a good plague.

And yet, it’s the people supporting facemasks and restraint who keep getting called “sheep”.
