This’ll be my main politics/rant thread, so I don’t hijack Wanderfound’s too often. Probably a mix of news, opinion, and my own opinions.

When someone denounces anarchists because supposedly we hate immigrants (wtf?– we support immigrants’ rights and oppose borders) because anarchists were prominent in what the press called the “anti-globalization movement” (and many activists call the global justice movement– which also supports immigration rights), and they insist that “anti-globalization” was a “deceptive rebranding of isolationism, protectionism, and nativism,” rather than a deceptive label the mainstream press slapped on a movement which has opposed nativism, and often opposed the others.
We seem to share common values, which is nice after arguing with xenophobes, but we don’t seem to share a common reality.

That is usually the part where I point out to them that internationalism is not the same as globalization, and can be opposed to each other like in this case.

I usually skip podcasts-- they take a lot of time, and I can’t read anything during that time or I lose my place in both-- and I would definitely skip one with that fucking slur in their fucking intro.
