It’s a pity the country has been falling apart when I was finally getting my life together.
I just found out that my father’s paternal grandfather was born in New Brunswick. However, we don’t know where he’s buried; or, if he was cremated, scattered
This is the guy that told my grandfather Francis that he’d wished he would’ve died instead of his younger brother, Hobart, who was born in 1903 and died in 1906. Francis was born in 1900.
For the first time, I made a meal from the state grain of Minnesota.
Today I found out that I’m the same age as Archie Bunker (and Carroll O’Connor) was at the start of All In The Family. I don’t know what to do with that information.
I don’t feel like an Archie Bunker. Don’t think I look his age either. But I might be biased.
Anyway, I’m going to go blast some rock and play video games and pretend I didn’t discover that.
You’re still a kid, don’t sweat it.
Rock? Rock?
You gotta sing this, Meathead:
Boy, the way Glenn Miller played
songs that made the hit parade
Guys like me we had it made
Those were the days
Hair was short and skirts were long
Kate Smith really sold a song
I don’t know just what went wrong
those were the days
… people take better care of themselves now
“smoking is good for us” has been debunked
still working on “moderate drinking is good for us”
Let’s not forget the lack of lead in paint and gasoline.
I’m having Amtrak coffee for the first time since 2015. It was terrible then. This is not so bad.
Update.
It has a burnt, Starbuck’s-like flavor to it. That’s the only thing keeping it from being “good.”
I changed my shower curtain liner.
Whoa, that’s some middle-management-level adulting there!
Update:
The package said it had a “weighted/magnetic hem.” Turns out, only at the sides, not the in the middle. WHY? This is my the USA needs a dictator. Mandate no trans people in sports and three magnets per shower curtain liner!
I feel your pain.
Maybe epoxy a magnet to the outside of the middle? Or urethane glue might be better, as cures it in the presence of █████ure water vapor.
When you have two curtains, one on the inside of the tub and one on the outside, the air convection caused by the warm/hot water is stymied by the outer curtain and the inner curtain hangs straight. It’s not quantum.
They need to use a more bizarre name for it, say, the “squiggle-affinity effect”.
I was thinking about something like that.
I added one of the old magnets to inside middle of the shower curtain liner. It makes a huge difference. I encased it in Gorilla Glue. I wonder how long it will last.
Depends on how strong the gorilla is?
Went to flush the toilet today… nothing happened.
Hmm… go to wash hands… nothing on turning the faucet.
Start checking around the place for any possible cause and look out the front. A little way down the street, a backhoe is being set up. As I watch, a fire truck pulls up nearby… and then a hazardous materials truck pulls up and parks right in front of me .
Turned out to just be a water leak repair. On the bright side, the shock on seeing the hazardous materials truck was unfounded. But it did mean having no water for a bit over 6 hours, and now there’s the constant bubbles of air still working through the system…
