Molesters Being Outed

Ye gods, that made me angry.

The police also discovered more victims whose kits had been shelved for years, bringing Ford’s total to 22 rape kits.

So given ~80-90% of rapes are never reported, that victim tally has to be pushing 100 or more.

I’m glad the point about how the difference between acquaintance and stranger rape is slim was examined – something I’ve long suspected but never seen in a report before.

The cops interviewed made me angriest, but I did love that line from the one detective helping clear the backlog, about how “we’ve been letting morons defeat us”. Both my rapists told me their full names and lots of biographical details, because they were so sure they’d get away with it.

They were right, but the article shows why.

Re: Morons

That bit about it not being a wall, but a plaza. I think any woman or young person could tell the cops a thing or two about crime, victimization, and Venn diagrams.

I’m sorry you had to go through that. (Hug)

It was a well-reported article. And chilling to read.

Right? And the bit about how rapists also tend to engage in theft etc. Seems like they’re bad about boundaries and respecting other people in general. Which makes total sense.

Unless you’re a cop following one of the silly “sex gone regrettable” tropes.

It’s almost like before they got an actual true sampling of rape cases they just made up a bunch of stories about rape.

It’s almost like WHILE HAVING an actual true sampling…

I think Alan Cross is amazing, but I don’t quite agree with his conclusion here. It is pretty sinister.

Yeah, for a not-insignificant number of them, getting a pass to rape women, lynch black people, lock latinos in concentration camps, and build a white ethno-state, that’s his central appeal. They think that’s exactly what made America so great, getting to trample on people with less power, with complete impunity.

He pats one lady on the butt and it’s being reported in one outlet as something like “a pat on the derrière” (they def used derrière). So not, he molested her right on camera.

They should have gone with the infinitely more tasteful patootie.

I guess it helps screen out any guards who might object to abuse by other guards.
