Women write it and it’s “just fanfic”, derided and spat upon. But a white man does it, and it’s a tragedy that the estate won’t let him publish.

Women have been doing this forever, and have it dismissed as a hobby or something lesser, we have to skate around the fringes, no matter how good it is but poor is the man who can’t get commercial or mainstream success for doing the same thing.

Fuck that. If he wanted to mainstream publish he could have filed the serial numbers off. Otherwise, he can stick it up somewhere like AO3. Like the rest of us have to do.

“She viewed the feminist movement as being primarily composed of upper-class and middle-class women who had their own class interests in mind, which were incompatible with the interests of working-class women. Thus, feminism and the socialist fight for women’s rights were incompatible. In her mind, socialism was the only way to truly end the oppression of women. One of her primary goals was to get women out of the house and into work so that they could participate in trade unions and other workers rights organizations in order to improve conditions for themselves. While she argued that the socialist movement should fight to achieve reforms that would lessen female oppression, she was convinced that such reforms could only prevail if they were embedded into a general move towards socialism, since, otherwise, they could easily be eradicated by future legislation.[18]” - from the Wikipedia article about Clara Zetkin, re her views on women’s rights.

I’m also coming to this conclusion, that to rectify all the injustices, the capitalistic system must fall.

Everything else that divides us cannot be overcome until economic disparity is overcome. Robert Reich trips me out because I see him quoted all the time, but what does he DO?

From what I can tell it would have to be someone who saw it originally or with access to an archive.

I guess it’ll be available to stream in a few weeks.

The abortion speak-out — organized by the socialist-feminist group Redstockings — was, according to historians, very likely the first public forum where American women talked about ending their pregnancies. They did so in a raucous, emotionally charged gathering whose legacy looms over the abortion debate today: We still employ personal, sometimes painful stories to demystify abortion. It’s still not enough to simply invoke the right to control one’s own body.
