Not Feminism 101

So we’ve already gone from #MeToo to a space where a guy is insistent that dating happened when it didn’t.

Sigh.

This is totally left-wing misogyny.

Are you saying the first article is advocating for poisoning men, specifically, MRAs? Because that’s not the intent.

:notes: One of these things is not like the others :notes:

I mean, if we’re going to group magical mushrooms with the poisonous ones, let’s complete the collection and mention the fabulous mushroom quiche I had at a local café last night. They make everything on site, which is very impressive given the wide assortment of food on offer and the relatively small size of the café.

Super yummy, no hallucinations or illnesses. Strictly culinary.

Given how much derision is thrown at single women for being single (cat ladies, spinsters, etc etc) this actually makes sense.

Is this a photo, or is this a photo??!! (The uniforms bother me, because they look a little too Confederate to me, but I guess dress uniforms don’t change much over the centuries.)

Can I express pride at these women’s accomplishments, while simultaneously expressing dismay at the institution they they joined to achieve them?

I think you can, but I think that dismay is better served by being upset at the white supremacy in the US that holds people of color, and women of color, back. The endemic poverty and hopelessness that means people face barriers to getting out.

I was always pretty cool on the military. But now being in the South, it’s a different beast here. And the military has been offered such wide latitude to go after kids. They were banned from my high school, but my husband was actively recruited, and most of his friends joined up.

Sooooo … smash the state.

The official answer is that they’ve been gray since 1815. Originally, they were more affordable than blue uniforms.

Both Netflix and Disney said they might pull production from GA… and now the Walking Dead is threatening to do so…

Although the show has not been SET in GA in quite a few seasons. It’s in VA/DC now, but it’s still filmed largely in Senoia, GA. Norman Reedus (who I think lives here now?) and one of the producers (maybe?) own a restaurant down there, too.

Okay, I don’t know if I’m opening up something here…NO PUN INTENDED, sincerely (and where is the “sin” in “sincere”?); Can a sex worker be a feminist? (I think so; we can’t always be politicizing one’s way of making a living, can we?) Is all pornography anti-female? (Certainly not!)

And she’s still alive.

What a fabulous woman! I love the 2014 photo of her at the end of the article.

IMHO a sex worker can totally be a feminist. The first- and second-wavers didn’t think so, but they seem to have assumed sex work was only for the desperate and the coerced. They didn’t think about what it would be like if you didn’t have to be desperate or coerced. Not much about why there’s such a dearth of safe, reliable entertainment in that category for straight women.
