It looks like most laptop companies are phasing out lcd/ips screens in favor of ultrabright oled screens.

Some people report that these cause more and worse migraines.

I think it may be more technically difficult to reduce their brightness, and you can’t reduce the background to its pulse-width modulation threshold, and then darken individual colors to reduce the effective brightness to less than that threshold amd/or less than the monitor’s minimum.
