Perhaps it’s a defect in my character, but I still don’t see why one would wish to cover up that they’ve fucked porn stars and Playboy centerfolds. I’d be bragging to anyone who’d listen! I guess I better not take up being stinking rich or political in my old age.

It’s interesting, though, in that it’s gone from something such a politician would vigorously deny if caught, and eventually have to resign over, to something the Christian right seems to be okay with so long as it’s discreetly swept under the rug – and so long as the politician keeps spouting on about family values even if they don’t follow them.

Off the top of my head, I wouldn’t be bragging, because:
- It could have a negative impact on the reputation of the woman in question.
- I was raised with the understanding that a gentleman never kisses and tells (see #1).
- It would give the impression (admittedly, probably true in that scenario) that I am shallow and only care about a woman’s appearance.
- Similarly, it would give the impression (again, probably true at that point) that the only value I place on these women is in their role as sex objects.
- I like to think of myself as a progressive individual, and to project that image. Having that become public (and especially bragging about it) would detract from both my perception of myself and the image I was trying to project (see especially #3 and #4).
Of course, given that Trump cares about no one except himself (I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and say “and his kids”), is plainly not any sort of a gentleman, has publicly stated that he only values women for their appearance and for their role as sex objects, and is the furthest possible thing from a progressive (and, to @chenille’s point, doesn’t seem to particularly care for his wife, either), I don’t know why Donald “Grab 'em By The Pussy” Trump would want to cover it up.

It’s a straight up “defense” of the “white” family and white womanhood. None of this is really new, though, and goes back to the antebellum social structure of the family, with white men as the head, protector, and authority in the family.
