Puzzling Evidence

This is what I am planning to do.

Oh. The CTA website made it look new.

Was there ever any explanation for the name?

Windy City transit?

If there was, I missed it. We’re talking years ago now. I’ll check on their site later to see if they say.

It looks like @chenille wins the prize. It’s a corrupted form of Latin meant to mean “windy.”

I thought it might have something also to do with vending machines.

I think tra means “break”.

Well at least Goochland is safe, except from the name of their town, that is.

Yes. I noticed that similarity too.

I should point out that this stereo system predates the Fifth Element by a decade.

I bought a new pair of wool socks today. After trying to find anything in unisex that wasn’t complete ugly garbage (seriously, women’s sizes get ALL the nice color combinations and patterns- apparently men’s size socks that even feature purple are straight-up illegal), I finally decided on a pair with a nice lake scene…

…featuring, uh, a Beholder and Bigfoot proudly showing each other their glowing green crystals? I have absolutely no idea what’s going on here. The other side doesn’t really offer any clues, featuring a lakeside cabin and what appears to be a Loch Ness Monster-type sea serpent, which reinforces the idea that one of these guys is Bigfoot, but the other one, and whatever they’re holding, just baffles me.
