It would be great if Mr. T was holding a Nancy Reagan action figure

Especially with Mr T in Nancy’s lap.

All too rarely, an Alternate Universe spills a little of this and a little of that into ours, something that Nancy and Mr. T , both being to an extent into the metaphysical, could have considered possible.

[Both looking at the photo]
Nancy: “Do you remember this, because I certainly don’t.”
Mr. T: “No, I don’t recall us together like that. Do you think…?”
Nancy: “My woo is real!”
Mr. T: *?"

AWS CEO says using AI to replace junior staff is ‘Dumbest thing I’ve ever heard’

[…]

The CEO also offered some career advice for the AI age, suggesting that kids these days need to learn how to learn – and not just learn specific skills.

“I think the skills that should be emphasized are how do you think for yourself? How do you develop critical reasoning for solving problems? How do you develop creativity? How do you develop a learning mindset that you’re going to go learn to do the next thing?”

[…]

Wait, what… What’s happening? That’s not how tech CEOs are supposed to talk! He must’ve caught some sort of humanities mind virus! Who will think of the shareholders!?

If he hasn’t been mentioned yet, it’s about time.

Anyone know what’s going on with Imgur and Medialab today?

Imgur got sold to Medialab, which is an infamously crappy company, a few years ago. For a while Imgur mostly operated independently of Medialab’s meddling. But recently Medialab let go of all the original Imgur staff including the entire content moderation team, purportedly in favor of AI moderation, and the results have been not great, as well as other changes that have been perceived as user-unfriendly. This seems like it’s an organic protest that’s arisen in the weeks since now that frustration has reached a boiling point.

Thanks, I hadn’t heard. Sounds awful!

Another example of why we can’t have nice things.

I hope the protest does some good, but it seems tough in this case to be especially hopeful.
