This is a side of Canada that is not often spoken of in the US; but then again, we were worse or just as bad.
I was merely speaking out of thinking, wow occasion for national unity, however brief!

Itās ANIME. Isnāt that a requirement? And the Swiss one - straight out of the Papal Guard, eh?
That occurred to me as well. Itās sort of like:
Japan: yes theyāll have swords! Swords are cool.
Rwanda: um, not so fast, context is everything
Like why not Macross pilots?
Thank you for clarifying it for me. See my other response, as well, pls.
I suppose Iām being child-like in my vision - big costume parade, shiny, lots of swirly fabric, colorful, people happy and proud to be representing their countries and paying homage to the host country, everybody getting along for five minutes at the very least.
I donāt suppose some of it could be seen as a form of inclusion? What if he/she were dressed as a anime Mountie, with no hint of First Nationsā existence at all?
Mounties have issues too, sort of like cops do for Black Lives Matter.
If I got to design it, Iād go with the strong points @MalevolentPixy pointed out: the hockey jersey and flag motif. Practically everyone acknowledges ice hockey, even if itās not their favourite sport, and practically everyone acknowledges it is our flag, even if itās less popular in some places like Quebec.
I just realized that heās packing a bow and arrow. Yeeeah, thatās definitely moving it further into problematic territory.
I mean, itās fitting, in a way: extremely European dude coming in to take all the good stuff from the Indigenous and First Nations. But I donāt think that was the artistās intent, and most people wouldnāt see that.
Whyā¦ why would they do samurai armour when Europe in general and England in particular has tonnes of their own?
Thatās like Monty Python levels of denialism.
Not necessarilyā¦ just in the more action-adventure oriented animesā¦ Not a lot of weapons in something like Ouran High School Host club or Kikiās Delievery Serviceā¦
Or something like this, which was only released on video (this is the entry for the manga):
Ryan Reynolds ātrash-talkingā Karen Gillan for their fantasy football thing theyāre doingā¦
If they really wanted to sell it, theyād have bleeped out the āF*** Chris Evansā bit.
Hey, they didnāt bleep out ādolphin humpingā, āpumpkin butterā, or āPat Sajakās fingerā. Maybe they just saved the bleeps for the really bad stuff.
I feel really oldā¦
In 1994 thatās an inexcusable level of ignorance in supposed newscasters.
THANK YOU.
Iāll never understand how people whose job it is to inform (as well as entertain) think being ignorant is okay.
Imagine Walter Cronkite trying to pull that.
Friend of mine came up with this years ago. I thought it deserved wider circulation.

When itās hog calling time in Nebraska,
When itās hog calling time in Nebraska,
When itās hog calling time in Nebraska,
Then itās hog calling time in Nebraska!
(verses twice, followed by slow spoken word, and then rousing finale.)
At Home Depot we saw one of those new LED bulbs that tries to look vintage:
Did you learn this to the tune of Red River Valley, as I did?
