Episode 94: On Watering The Garden.

“If it’s gonna piss dahn tonight, I won’t bovva. If it don’t bovva, I’ll bovva.”

The forecast is dry. Looks like I’m bovverin’.

Due to needing a set of “random” numbers for a form today, I went to confirm one of my favorite joke numbers was still working: The Callin Oates Hotline. Happy to report that it is…and there are others! Should you find yourself with a phone (look, there’s one in your hand now!) and time, give these a ring -

Callin’ Oates: 719-266-2837

Jenny: 304-867-5309

Hogwarts Admission Line: 267-436-5109

Horribly offkey hold music: 858-924-0180

Choose your own adventure via touchtone: 630-247-5241

Echo test: 804-222-1111

Tells you the number you are calling from: 800-437-7950

Rick’s line: 248-434-5508

Enjoy!

This reminds me: if you are ever shopping for almost anything anywhere and the cashier asks if you are part of their rewards club (or some such sly info-gathering nonsense), offer the phone number [any area code] 867-5309. it always works for me, and often gets me a discount. Pay it forward!

Dear God. I have never wanted a piece of imaginary media to exist more.

Recently my local supermarket chains have started rejecting this number. At Food Lion, at self-checkout it actually locks out the whole machine if you enter Jenny’s number as your loyalty number. I’m afraid to learn what happens if you try to use it at a register with a cashier.

Oh that reminds me of the “ruin the movie by adding one word to the title” game back at TOP. The word “Muppet’s” was an excellent choice, as in Muppet’s Requiem For A Dream

Probably blocks 866 numbers, I’d be tempted to try the ICE tip line number…
