The not-Oxford missing comma has a place in dialog, vernacular, and an intentionally breezy style. That’s kind of a way to say that it’s an extra thing, an affectation and not necessarily an abomination, but it ultimately works only when the sentence is already simple and there’s no need to spend effort — or at least when you want to give that impression.
Sometimes you need the extra comma, sometimes you don’t.

I feel this. Even though I wasn’t an English major, not using the Oxford comma looks totally wrong to me. Maybe it’s the programmer thing where I will use parenthesis in expressions even when not necessary just to make the intent absolutly clear.
My spouse has a journalism degree and was a newspaper copy editor before switching to libraries, so she had conservation of commas trained into her for some reason.
There’s three (or more) values: they should all be comma-separated!
Back in the days of the letterpress, maybe it mattered. But those days have been gone for a long time now.
For me it’s like turn signals. Sure, using your turn signal when you’re the only living being around for kilometres is kind of silly. But if you always use your turn signal, you’ll never have to think about whether you should or not, and if you happen not to notice the pedestrian walking along, your intention to turn is broadcast anyhow.
