It’s good… and my brain rebelled because I’ve heard that song enough to have an idea in my head what the drums sound like!
I can’t say that this cover is particularly marvelous, but it is marvelous that it exists. Apparently the Lawrence Welk Show had no clue what the song was about. It mentioned Jesus and sounded like a spiritual, so off they went!
That’s hilarious!
FYI - if you have an account over at the AVClub’s website, you can help make the list for the next undercover series…

The auto closed captions are . . . really off. YouTube apparently thinks she’s singing “the bunk in this real gay song” which is . . . not great. It also thinks she’s saying liberty instead of libertine, which is more forgivable, but still wrong.
Here is AV Club’s list of covers for the next season (10) of Undercover…
Roy Orbison, “In Dreams”
Patti Smith, “Because The Night”
Nick Lowe, “Cruel To Be Kind”
Siouxsie And The Banshees, “Cities In Dust”
Chris Isaak, “Wicked Game”
The La’s, “There She Goes”
Faith No More, “Midlife Crisis”
White Town, “Your Woman”
Yeah Yeah Yeahs, “Maps”
Chappell Roan, “Pink Pony Club”
Does it matter if it is a Rather Marvellous Song?
Was expecting Alexander Courage, but Jerry Goldsmith is better suited to the bluegrass style, I think.
