his Ming the Merciless was so good it redefined the character, for my generation and beyond.

Never saw that. My Buck Rogers was Buster Crabbe - they played the old serials on TV when I was a kid. No Ming the Merciless in those.

Wow, he had such an amazing body of work over his long life!

This may seem an odd choice, but I will remember him best for Needful Things. He was brilliant in that.

That is Flash Gordon. And Charles Middleton was a good Ming and good in any other B movie proper or short of the era.
