So who do we elect this year?

I am REALLY looking forward to the next debate of Warren, Sanders, Biden, and Bloomberg. If that happens (there will be another debate or so, right?) and if Warren and Bloomberg qualify.

My take on a brokered convention is that it would have happened anyway. That’s why the Warren-Sanders/Sanders-Warren tag team in the debates is key. That’s possibly why the lack of that happening has sucked so badly. And the blame to Warren that resulted from the rift. Sanders is uncompromising because he’s one of those crazy people who’s been driven sane by circumstance. Warren is not crazy. That is why Sanders should be VP and Warren should be Commerce Secretary to… AOC.

But the oh god reality of the situation has conspired us to all pile in with the one solid object in this intermittently thixotropic society of ours. That solid object, a remarkably intelligent piece of hardwood, is Bernie.

Really looking forward to the next debate, if there is one.

Can I just say that I fucking hate the Supreme Court shaming? “If it’s Biden, you have to vote Biden because Supreme Court!”

We wouldn’t have to worry nearly so much if Biden had give Anita Hill a tenth of a fair shake. Go back and listen to the Hill hearings. He brutalized her. And he handed the Republicans the handbook for Kavanaugh. How can we fight a pussy grabber with a man who chops wood and carries water for pussy grabbers?

I remember someone else who causes problem sand then claims he’s the only one to solve them. I’ll vote for biden if he’s the nominee, probably. But fuck. Don’t tell me the bull in the china shop is the only guy who can glue the china back together.

I listened to it. The disheartening thing about it was that it was the first time I realized that the D party “leaders” were complete bullshit.

I was three years old; the only real memory I have is hearing the name and seeing flashes of the major players. I went back and listened when it was announced Christine Blasey Ford would testify o Congress.

As a survivor of rape, it’s incredibly hard to deal with the fact that my choice might be between these two pieces of garbage.

I’m surprised Bloomberg is so low.

NO!!!

West coast 4 lyfe tho.…

My home state went for biden because warren spoiled. I liked HRC in 2016, and I’ve been disappointed by her conduct and impressed by Bernie’s since. Now warren. Now a man who hurts women, demonstrably and publicly, is the presumptive nominee.

Im not a Democrat anymore.

i keep hearing reports that Biden took Texas, but i can’t find any definitive numbers. last i saw last night they were neck and neck, and less than half of the votes counted. if bernie gets CA and TX, that would change the narrative this morning by a significant amount.

Google “democratic primary delegates” and there’s a pretty good viewer. Tight now from Texas Biden has 70, Sanders 60, Bloomberg 4, Warren 1, out of 228.

Bernie is kicking ass in California, but most likely will still be a bit behind in total delegates once these are counted up. There’s another 2200-something delegates up for grabs in other states though.

My prediction:

  • Biden will have a narrow plurality.
  • At the convention, the establishment will be overjoyed to give Biden the nom.
  • He’ll pick someone awful for his VP. Maybe a Republican.
  • He, the only candidate capable of embarrassing himself more than Trump, will faceplant repeatedly during July, August, September and November.
  • Sexual abuse allegations may come out against him. They won’t stick.
  • Trump will invent some other bullshit scandal about him. That one will stick.
  • Trump rallies will be a signficant vector for coronavirus.
  • Biden will win the popular election narrowly and lose in the electoral college.
  • I will literally vomit.
  • The Democratic party will learn nothing.

(Fixed typo: “delicates” != “delegates” :face_with_hand_over_mouth:)

Welp. So much for the possible spoiler.

At least this means we’ll be getting less junk mail from Flintheart Glomgold.

hmm, i see – that’s still close as far as i’m concerned, and especially considering that one dude just finished voting this morning after waiting SEVEN HOURS to vote, and other reports mentioned people waiting in line up to five hours, i don’t see how they can really call this because they must still be tabulating.

Yeah, knowing that I will not be asked to pull a lever for Bloomberg has somewhat offset my chagrin at Biden’s surge.

Your prediction looks spot-on. I hate election years. Of course the years between aren’t great either (especially the last 3+ horrible ones).

I think there’s a chance that the never-Berners might be amenable to a Warren nomination but it’s going to be down to the debates, how well Bernie makes the case against the establishment, including the GOP establishment.

This election cycle the Democratic party has been presented with not one but two compelling campaigns for structural reform in the shape of Elizabeth Warren (who dropped out on Thursday) and Bernie Sanders. Both candidates have offered a sustained critique of the country’s economic model and argued that it is to blame for the rise of Donald Trump at home and has fuelled authoritarian kleptocracy abroad. Their campaigns consistently highlighted the unsustainable nature of the current trajectory when it comes to not just the financialisation of the US economy, but the failed approaches to healthcare, college debt, climate breakdown and defence. And, issue by issue, the progressive diagnoses and treatments for these ills have shown themselves to be highly popular.

This pisses me off. We don’t even need to spy on conservative groups – their awfulness and evilness is on display every day, and it doesn’t lead to any change.
