Many folks in America won’t understand it, just like they refuse to even try and understand how wearing a mask and social-distancing will protect them from spreading or getting COVID-19.
And the author - does he get the concept of “whistling in the dark”? We make jokes so we laugh at humor, even if that laughter eventually, uh, becomes hysterical.
BTW - Happy Birthday to President-Elect Joe Biden!
His blood pressure is almost the same as mine usually is! Wow!
Interesting comment.
American commentators say “we’re like the third world now” as if our very existence is a pejorative. Ha ha, you assholes, stop calling us that. You’re no better than us. The third world from the Sun is Earth. You live here too.
I hope he’s wrong but fear he’s right.
He’s correct. I’m having a hard time processing it, as well.
Like, we should be any more immune to this sort of thing than any other so-called “super-power”?
Addendum: And how many coups has the US government participated in that weren’t in the US?
So, Georgia’s results are finally certified. And dragged it out to just barely before the deadline, I think.
Also, it’s nice to hear Pence opted to take the scenic, slow route out of the state. Really taking in what the common folk see.
More happy-birthday news for POTUS-Elect Biden!
Shirkey didn’t shirk his duties to the people of Michigan!
Try “out reach” with a Nazi and they will cut your hand off. Then laugh at you for bleeding.
In the old days, they would stab you with a concealed sharp object, then watch you write as they laughed, I believe. I’m talking about Kaiser Wilhelm II’s era, which really was proto-Nazi; it was imperial, not a political party. And KWII invented the term “Yellow Peril” and hated Jews as well as looking down on dark-skinned people. And he was incredibly emotionally imbalanced. Yet in some things he was, dare I say it - bright. I can’t think of any, though. And he demanded worship from his people.
I’ve read that the other countries of Europe, in pre-WWII days thought of all of Germany as Teutonic and a different race - even though they were white. Can someone explain that to me, or is it due to one’s definition of the word “race”?
I’m kind of surprised that there’s been no mention of barratry, vexatious litigation, abuse of process, or contempt of court, or something given all these bogus lawsuits with no evidence. Seems like throwing them all in jail until at least February for their shenanigans would be totally appropriate.
But so far all I hear is that they get laughed out of court. This isn’t really a laughing matter. It is an appeasement strategy, and historically, that has not always worked out well.
Maybe the judges figured the legal teams wouldn’t know of and comprehend those terms, if they were stupid enough to participate in the lawsuits in the first place.
The precedent being made here is hideous. Every election after this will be this way.
Especially since the elections have been so close recently – and with such criminal assholes on the right it seems inevitable.
This nonsensical notion was popularized by Heinrich von Treitschke, a Prussian nationalist. WEB Dubois was one of his students, and this classification of “Europeans” into three “races” makes it into Dubois’s Conservation of Races
It was also used by the Allies to explain the German barbarism in Belgium, especially when it came to the destruction of anything to do with what was considered civilized culture. And for some weird reason, the Germans couldn’t understand why they weren’t being fear-praised, instead of frowned-upon.
When your theory cannot explain the data, it’s time to discard the theory. Good riddance!
That classification would be fairly common, although the interpretation would vary. For example, 3 successive waves of migration from Central Asia, 2 waves and then intermixing, or just a classification of appearance without speculating about causes.
And then of course protein and genetic evidence would sweep it all away.
