Yeah, I’m especially disinterested now that legal betting is part of the mix.
As for Rose, given betting’s legality now (even though players aren’t supposed to make money from it), maybe the thinking about him has to changed to um, all bets are off on.

Rose never bet against his own team. He bet that they would win. So some people argue that those bets didn’t compromise him. I don’t agree, but that’s the argument.
As for Shoeless Joe, yeah, even if he had taken the bet, looking at his stats for that series, it’s clear that he wasn’t trying to throw any games. I’ve also heard doubts that any of the players were involved. Kennesaw Landis wanted gambling out of the sport, and he used them as a scapegoat to accomplish that.
I think for me, it’s really hypocritical for MLB to have official partnerships now with FanDuel and other online sportsbooks, including having current players appear in ads for them, while banning Rose and Jackson from the HoF. Either gambling is ok, or it’s not.

There’s that GF during his mid-30s, when “rose claimed he thought she was 16, which was the age of consent in Ohio at the time,” case. It’s still wrong AF for a guy in his mid-30s to be fucking a teenager.
landis was the worst sort of pious autocrat. He musta been born angry, distrustful, stubborn, preachy AF, and convinced he was the only important person in the world.
