“Do I even have to tell you where to jam this?”
There is a tradition of supporting Cote d’Ivoire among Irish soccer supporters when we aren’t at the tournament. Same flag, just the other direction.
I really don’t want to think about things like that, since Trump has started a new bromance with Infantino after breaking up with Musk.
Things are even more fucked up at FIFA than usual, I have even seen people saying that they miss the days of Sepp Blatter.
Another huge success for Trump.
My grandad got tickets to watch North Korea play against Italy in 1966. He didn’t know it was going to be one of the all time shock World Cup results, he was just grateful to see a world cup game.
Trumpy will follow that gold gewgaw around like a cat following a laser pointer.
A day for bowlers.
They’ve held it, in my lifetime, in Argentina ‘78, and Russia and Qatar. Repressive anti-democratic regimes have no problem running major international sporting events.
If the fascist scum regime can’t even manage that it would be chortle friendly. It takes a force of will, but I no longer watch the World Cup anyway.

I don’t know what is going on with that preview, but to clear up any confusion the appeal was successful and Clapton CFC will be playing in the Eastern Counties division one South next season.
Last summer we also appealed but that was unsuccessful. However, there were a couple of key differences this season. Last summer, we were being moved with two other East London teams (one of which subsequently folded) and our presence took the division up to a round number of 18 teams.
This season, however, we would have been the only north of the river side in the division. In fact we would have been the only team playing on the ‘other’ side of the river at Step 6, Step 5 or even Step 4. Our presence would also have meant the SCEFL would have meant the division running at an odd number of 19 teams.
The threshold to win such an appeal is extremely high. The decision needed to be judged not just as unreasonable, but so unreasonable that no reasonable body acting reasonably could have made it (the ‘Wednesbury unreasonableness’ test). As such it is exceptionally rare to succeed. Indeed all ten appeals lodged last summer lost.
Dumbarton FC goes Sevco.
I think that’s the last Scottish football club from 1872 to go under. Renton, Vale of Leven, Third Lanark, Rangers, a load of other central belt teams you’ve never heard of, and now Dumbarton.
Well obviously I don’t watch that either!
I don’t even know what channel it would be on if I were to try!
Neither do I. I don´t watch a game since 2012… Maybe because of my father, who didn’t like football, my brother and I grew up without supporting any football team or paying much attention to the World Cup. I think the only time I watched a tournament was in 1982.
