Somewhere in the World There's Always a Sportsballs

I don’t know if Thelwell made it to the US, hugely popular in the UK in the 60s and 70s.

There was a small tack shop at our riding school, and when I was a kid, Thelwell dominated the giftware, kids’ t-shirts, etc. tophat-biggrin I loved that stuff.

Steve McQueen was an avid poloist.

An online GF told me her dad was a longtime friend of “Unca Steve,” as she came to call him. Whenever her mom and dad had a particularly bad argument, her dad would pack up his car and the kids and go stay with Unca Steve for a while.

The kids adored him, and he them.

Her brother loved cars, so he’d have him accompany him while he worked on his cars, and explain stuff.
She loved horses, so whenever he was doing horsey stuff, he’d have her with him, and they’d talk about horses. Whenever he rode his fencelines,* he’d put her on the saddle in front of him, which they both V much enjoyed.

She and her brother loved their Unca Steve very much, and treasured their visits. It was obviously mutual. It was also really good for their dad to get away and relax, and drink and BS with Unca Steve.

She told me that as long as she lives, she will never forget his eyes.

*Checking and repairing the fences on a biiiig place is crucial & entails a lot of work. It’s impressive that Unca Steve did it himself, 'steada having a hired hand do it.

Does the victim of a “boop!” get one or two free throws?

Good question? Maybe the ref gets to decide? Maybe it depends on length of boop?
