I love and respect John Batiste, and this is a beautiful performance, but it also breaks my heart somehow…
He is SO New Orleans. Having been there all during college, the best of the New Orleans musicians all have this energy. They are going to heal the world.

I’m glad he’s not going to be charged. He’s a hero.
I don’t know… everyone has been going on about how great Lamar’s show was, and how he snuck in all sorts of digs at Trump and the right wing… but I don’t know that it was enough of anything… most people just got the digs at Drake… which… I guess I’m over that whole feud. Like, if there is some evidence of Drake exploiting teens, then bring it to the attention of the authorities. 
I didn’t even know that those were the allegations he was making.
I just thought it was two dudes having an ego fight.
It seemed so complex and layered of a performance compared to other half time shows. I think everyone knows about the Drake feud at this point, so even if you’ve never listened to any other song of his, you’ve heard some fraction of Not Like Us. I think he needed to have a crowd pleaser in there.
Which – if the performance was mostly a black thing, with many layers and messages understood mostly by black people – is okay, no?
