Kid Gramps waddles again!

Seems like the press continues to drop the ball here (pun intended):

As for the MAGAs upset about the halftime show, let 'em die mad:

I agree that all that is not easy to convey (it has almost the same effect as trying to explain a joke):

Celebration of Black culture, much of it aimed directly at black people, in ways mostly only they would especially appreciate? During Black History Month, and in the middle of a Super Bowl that had, for the first time, two black quarterbacks? All on such a huge national stage, and right in front of Donald Fucking Tramp?!

Should I try to spell out even more about it that “helps”? I’m not going to try to speak for black people, and maybe I’m getting something wrong here, but I would think it all felt pretty good and helpful at this time, when black people are yet again in the cross hairs.

Not speaking to you here: White people will get their very white, very boring Cold Play or U2 or whatever halftime again soon enough. And despite how little interest or relevance it has to black or other Americans, very few people will say it doesn’t help, or that it’s too white. It’ll just be mainstream American entertainment, in its usual mode.

The very unfortunate thing about the performance is that the Chiefs were getting their butts kicked and the game became too boring for Dump. Apparently, he left after the first half, just before the halftime show.

Yeah I know, but the performers and such knew he’d be there, even if he did leave early. Unfortunate indeed, but then, pretty much all of it would’ve gone over his head anyway. :person_shrugging:

FD on the halftime show…

Both of them are the Scottish S*n. It was plagiarism though.

The original was from the Liverpool Echo in the 1960s, and was something like “Super Calley Scores A Hatrick, QPR Atrocious”

The romance of the cup© – the classic theme this time of the year, columns’ worth of copy generated. Always good to see, as long as it isn’t your club on the receiving end.

Despicable as it is, the S*n had a selection of admirable headline zingers that are recycled/upcycled.

Of course the hollowing out of sub-eds and hands-off eds means that originality is scarce. I expect there is an AI being trained on Mary Poppins; Turnip/Swede; Up Yours Delors; Gotcha; and the Empire Strikes Back*.

*Not a Scum headline

I mean, it’s a great headline, it sounds fantastic, so I guess I get the stealing of it…

It’s pretty tense. The US national anthem has been booed in every US team appearance. (As it should be.)

I’ve never heard of the Four Nations Face-Off before. But I truly hope the US goes down in flames.
